Rear lens cap for new 24-70 f2.8 G Master lens

Can anyone help with a simple question? I have to return a 24-70mm F 2.8 G master lens to a dealer in as supplied, like new condition. I have two types of rear lens caps, one grey with E- mount in depressed text at the top and SONY in large depressed central text and the other black marked with E- mount in depressed text at the top and E-Mount in large silver text in the centre. Which was the lens originally supplied with, black or grey?

Many thanks, Bob.

The grey one, Bob.

The black one likely came from a Metabones adapter.

Thanks for the information. The problem with the lens is rather obscure - only at 35mm focal length/full aperture objects at the extreme left of the image show a blurred/smeared right hand side. The lens passes the test for centering, a defocused white disk on a black background. The problem only occurs on the left hand side, the remainder of the image is excellent.

Bob.

Hope your second sample (if you are exchanging) is better.

The new and €3000 70-200 is reported to be mighty sharp.

Let us hope there will be less QC issues with it.
