Got an awesome super ultra deal by trading some equipment I had no use for for a sealed and 3 years ensured A99. Here are some ultra quick tests I did.

Self portrait on both photos...so be kind

    Sony 50mm f1.4

Tamron 28-70mm f2.8 (candle lit shot at iso 6400)

That 28-70mm F2.8 Tamron zoom is a great although compact lens. I have the Canon EOS version and it fits well on the A7r.

I prefer the second portrait to the first : I like the warmer tones and you have a stronger presence and a somewhat mysterious look. The way the light build an ellipse around your right eye is not very conventional and some won't like it, but I find it adds something to the portrait together with your tilted head. There is a particular mood in thus portrait.

Shooting the photo shoot. Rapidly disintegrating Sony a900 with ZA 135/1.8.

Son's football team was in the midst of a photo shoot. Thought I would leave the heavy lifting and the "good" photos to the "pros" so I rode the pine on the sidelines. He recently decided to switch to water polo, so............

    A77II and Sigma 18-35 f/1.8 DT
This lens is sharp! I turned off all sharpening and only added +8 clarity. Of course, Flickr adds some sharpening (too much for my taste).

Cindy, I've been tempted by a 77II as well as that lens. This post of yours doesn't make it any easier even though I agree it's probably a tad crunchy. That's why I use SmugMug, they don't tamper with your pictures (at least for me since I upload at the size I want top post)

Apologies I can see straight away that these are over-sharpened...I applied the same processing as I normally do with my A7R (Note to myself).

Thanks Michiel, and yes I do. I work for a global company and get to travel some, mainly east and sometimes west. There's disadvantages, but visiting and taking photographs of far away places is one of the rewards.

The light and the clouds were most intruiging in deed. Funny thing about Texel sheep, when they fall on their back, they can't get up again. Really BIG sheep, and very very tasty!

    Likewise thanks Georg.

BTW. The sheep in this part of Cornwall do like to spend more time on their backs than on all 4's.
My (vegetarian) wife can't stand to see it, so we spend less time taking photos and more time trying to find out which field belongs to which farmer so they can be righted...Farmers seem to take a dim view if strangers do it for them...Cheers Barry
