Marc, the 12-24 Sigma is pretty good as long as you stop down to f11 or f16 - otherwise the edges really suck. Of course, if the edges don't matter, then by all means use the center at wider apertures.
Sigma's record for QC isn't very good in my experience, so maybe other samples would do better. Mine is better at 12 mm than at 24, where comparison with the Zeiss 24-70 will make you wince!
Basically, it's a good "11 by 14" lens, but not so hot for large prints.
The Sigma 70 mm macro, on the other hand, is truly outstanding - or at least my sample is!.
I'll post a few more 12 mm shots in the next few days.
