Thanks Cooler, it was my first time in Köln and I found the Dom quite inspiring. It's really huge but interesting details and views can be seen in so many places there
Only problem was that it was dark and no tripods allowed.

Here's another one, looking at one of the several smaller side organs

I think they were specially placed there by the Domschweitzer for trembling photographers like me. You couldn't take your own pillars in though

Here's another one from Köln, the square that attracted so much media attention around New Years Eve last year.

Sooooo strange to look at for me, having sat on these steps so often, walking across the trainstation to the Musikhochschule, or walking to the left, passing the shoping mall to make my way into the South of the City to have a drink where Wolfgang Niedeggen from BAP hung out every week. Many many years ago. Thanks, and yes, the center Altar shot is brilliant!!

Not really, but it's a funny thing really. I had not been there for nearly 2 decades , and then was to exhibit some work of mine on the photokina in 2008. So I took a flight and was there a day early, because I had arranged for some chaps from Sinar, Olympus, a Photo-Magazine etc. to have a drink with me in one of the coolest pubs in Cologne, Papa Joe's Klimperkasten, where I had a table on the first floor reserved for us and I wanted to make last arrangements with the owner.

Walking those streets again was kinda weird, my childhood and stuff, apart from all the new buldings that went up at the river. Back in the years, I used to make frequent night walks, taking the last train to Bonn, and then walking back from there to the center of the city, most of the way was close to the river banks. About 5-6 hours later, first light, I was back and crashed in my place, tired, but happy.

Ops... trip down memory lane I suppose.

Thanks for the comment, it's exactly this strange contrast in shapes that made me take the shot like this. There was also a light pole in the shot, but the clone tool took care of that

I don't think it is, but with some fantasy it could be used as one

But you probably know that the real cheese grater is located in London
