Re: Fun with the NEX cameras....

Ashwin: Welcome to the Nex thread! And thanks for your sharing your pictures from Argentina and as well thanks to Matt for playing his part of the story .

Particularly like the "buffoon" with the accordion, got the decisive moment for a truly captivating expression here, a great composition plus a very appealing B&W conversion.

Two every day life captures from the streets:

    "Intergenerational Dialogue"

    NEX-5N, 16mm/2.8 @ f/7.1 & ISO 250

    "Gender Relation"

    NEX-5N, 18-55mm/3.5-5.6 @ f/8.0 & ISO 3200

Hope you like it and thanks for your interest.

Ashwin.....I really think that it doesn't matter what camera......or what lens you have in your hands......beautiful captures.

I am curious though......what induced you to bring the NEX 7 on your travels instead of the M9?

Woody: Nicely done! Looks as perfect as your M9 'stitches'. Any qualitative comparisons you could draw regarding the two body's output for stitching?

Matt - I see no real difference in the "stitchability" of the files.

This is typical of the CRT Nikkor (Nikkor O 55/1.2) rendition wrt foliage at ~80cm focus at f/1.2. This lens has a substantial -ve field curvature.

Lovely stuff . . . . although I detect a dust bunny at about 3 o'clock on the first two shots.

Our snow is long gone. . . today was springlike, we even sat in the garden for a drink:

The cat insisted on lying on Emma's lap. At this point she wasn't digging her claws in!

Ashwin: Very impressive and atmospheric set!

Inspiring me to contribute a pretty much alternative program. Since it's the last week of winter now, three more pictures proving, that winter also can show some beauty (for me at least):

    All with NEX-5N, 16mm/2.8 @ f/9.0

Rich, I was really not expecting it to be so well-done. It is solid and looks very nice. Focus and aperture work smoothly. It balances nicely on the NEX 5N. Will try it on NEX7 when I get it next week. Shown here on my M6ttl 0.72. I have sent my Contax G 35 f/2 off to be converted. Can't wait to try it, too.)
(FYI This is Monza's Contax G 45 f/2 Planar. It has been converted to M mount.)

Nice work contrelemonte! What/where palace is it?

    Great Tango series, Ashwin!

Djordje, really like these compositions. Same subject as I am doing with my French facades series! (Mainly, till now in the Ricoh GXR forum)

Thank you, Cindy! I am really glad I went on the Contax Zeiss route with my NEX-7.
Amazing lenses. Here are 2 with the Distagon 28/2.8. great sharpness and as good (or better) as the Zeiss Biogon 25.
Nice detail work with your planar. Who converts them to the M mount? Monza?

Michiel: Thanks for your kind feedback! It's the forefront of "Schloss Nymphenburg" in Munich ...

From the pictures you contributed recently I like "High Noon" in Mers les Bains best. (Would have faded the nasty green sign on the right a bit however, but that's just me.)

    Taylor,
It is really interesting to see the rendering of the different lenses in the hand of the same photographer. It takes out the unknown of differing post-processing skills. I especially like the rendering of the 50mm Planar. The 90mm Contax G is one of my all-time favorite lenses, and I really like how it rendered the truck.

Thanks Cindy - yes I was really pleased with the way the truck picture turned out.

One caveat - those pictures do span a fairly broad range of post-processing. I transitioned from using PSE to using LR 3.6 during the time that those were taken. Lightroom is good, I have to say.

Taylor: +1 on the truck and the night view to Queen Anne from 'Downtown' Ballard!

Hermann: Nice set of photos! I especially like the disorder/order in this one. The anarchic geese make a nice foreground for the pristine white palace(?) and vice versa. The tone's perfect.

Here is a series of six shots taken with NEX-7 and Leica 24mm Summilux.
I called it Game of Shadows.

Very nicely coloured evening shot with those beautiful typical Zeiss starlights!

Thanks Matt! What a fantastic trip you're having in India!

    In the woods.
Shot with the Minolta MD 24/2.8. A good lens for the NEX-7 since I better not use the Zeiss Biogon 25 on this camera.

Re: Fun with the NEX cameras....

Great shots everyone. I have a question though: does anyone shoot sports (soccer (football), swimming, basketball, football (American) with the nex cameras? If so, please post them.

    Thanks.
