Re: Fun with the Sony A7 Series Cameras( all of them)

What adapter do you use?
This one was converted to M-mount by Hawk's Factory. And I'm using his M to E adapter.

Getting bored so I went out for a quick shoot. The M mountain was lit today. The moon was just above the mountain outside of the frame.

A7s.Mod + ZM 15 @ WO (have never thought of this possible before)

Hi Vivek
Thanks for the link on the Cholan Empire. It is amazing how western history limits the Indian sub continent to the invasion of the northeastern part by Alexander the Great. This gold coin is on top of a silver coin? Can you please photograph the silver coin? Thank Paul

Hi Paul, Trust me, I photographed the gold one (actual replica) for you though the real Silver (all actual sizes) is my treasure. :)

When I was a kid, one summer holiday, I was in to coin collection. My mother sent me to an old family friend who was a metal worker by trade and he gave me a fistful of coins (just like that!). It took me a long time figure out where this coin came from.

There are some very nice pics on the web of cleaned coins. My sample (I will try) will not look all that great and I do not want to clean it.

BTW, let me add one finding here. Unlike the regular SLR lenses, reversing (it is possible and easy) this lens (Sony FE 28/2) does not offer any advantages.

Fat pixels, an Elmar 50 and the Voigtlander close-focus adapter.

Is that the floodlights from the statue hitting the low clouds?

I have seen some stunning lightning hit pictures but this is special.

Nice. :)

Re: Fun With Sony _____

Miami Open Tennis Tournament. Was given four free tickets plus a parking pass for the daytime matches on the 27th. The only catch was that I had to take my 10 yr old and his friends (the parents wanted a bit of alone time). So, between the rain, and 3 ten year old boys who wanted food and to be out of the sun, I was able to squeeze off a few frames of this match. I missed Rafael Nadal's match because the boys wanted to get ice cream and then go home.

The girl in the black, a Romanian, was seeded third. The girl in the blue top is Czech and she came with her own cheering section (will show the cheering section). The Romanian won the match.

The photographers pit was 12 rows in front of me. They had their fancy tripods and lenses that could reach NYC from Miami. Sometimes they were in my way so I had to dump those pictures. Man, I would love to be in the pit. I like to think I can do it.

What was interesting to me is that the photogs in the pit didn't have to deal with the spectators in the photos when the players served, because the back wall is high enough for the ball to be seen against the wall as opposed to my pics that had the spectators in the background.

Sony a900 with 70-200/2.8G. The colors are pretty much out of the camera. Yes, I cropped. More photos to come, of a men's match.

Thanks for the love / likes, in advance.

Re: Fun with the Sony A7 Series Cameras( all of them)

You're right, Jim. In fact I sold the a99 and use the a7r and a7II for all my travel and wildlife shooting. The a7r/II with the FE16-35, FE24-70 and FE70-200 make a very compact travel kit.

I'm using the LAEA4 adapter for my Sigma Macro, 70-400G and Tamron 150-600. I may sell the 70-400G if the Tamron does well - I've only just acquired it and am still assessing it.

I still prefer MF for landscapes, though!

Thanks for your kind words,
Bill
Bill your pelican shots sold me on the A7II's autofocus capabilities. I have not yet jumped on the A7x train but fully expect to seriously look at the very next generation of these. I have been seeing some excellent pics from the new version 15mm III m mount lens, the 16-35mm, the 55mm FE, and the 70-200mm but were all stills and mostly the a7II and a7r (there is something about the a7s images that I just can't warm up to). Yours were the first BIF shots I have seen where it would rival the a99 or even the a77mkII, which I own both. I also still own the 70-400mm G1 and the Tamron 150-600mm and use the 150-600 on the a77mkII and the 70-400 on the a99.

It will be hard to walk away from all my A mounts being as I have over 22 A mount lenses but I also have nearly a dozen apc E mount lenses that would have little use if I go to the E mount full frames. I am not much of a EBAY seller in fact I have only bought and never sold there but it may come down to that as I see little need to run 3 separate systems if one can do them all.

See what you have gone and done with those BIF pics ;) Decisions decisions and they all cost money and time... ;)

Jim:
I am also an A and E mount owner (currently A-850 and A7S owner and former NEX 5N and A7R owner). I also do not sell on ebay (but do ocasionally buy there). If you have stuff that you can't find a buyer for on GetDPI then I recommend selling your A/E mount Minolta/Sony stuff on Dyxum. They have the largest group on Minolta/Sony users that I know of. I always make sure I honestly represent the item for sale and sell at a discount relative to actual sales on ebay (not buy it now prices which can be ridiculous) to make it worth the buyer's while. That way I can sell pretty quickly for in-demand items. The only caveat is if you're a new member you have a waiting period to participate.

This accessory does not need any introduction. The lens was a 1955 Elmar.

Untitled by Vivek Iyer, on Flickr
A7r, Elmar 5cm f/3.5, Elpik 2, a bit of light

I also have the very famous NOOKY close-up accessory somewhere. Can't find it now.

Re: Fun with the Sony A7 Series Cameras( all of them)

^^ I've got a 3.5 elmar 5 cm that my father bought new in 1949, still a great and very usable lens :)

Never got one of those close-up lenses though and as intended originally they were not very easy to use. The coupled rangefinder didn't work anymore at shorter distances, so you would have to do your measurements from a printed table to get the right sharpness for a certain distance.
Nice shot with the flowers, but I bet these days the focusing with a mirrorless digital camera is a whole lot easier then the way it had to be done in the 50's.
