Normandy 1944. Then and Now

I was actually surprised by how *little* had changed. The tanks are gone, and the damage to the buildings has been patched up, but nearly all those buildings from the old photos are still there, and the streets may be more often paved but they're still the same narrow old lanes. It's wonderful to see how little of Normandy's history has been bulldozed in the name of "improvement"!

I was in Normandy and Brittany last spring for vacation, and it's a lovely part of the world. I saw the photos and thought, "Yes, that's definitely Normandy!"
