A Very Nice Photo Blog

James Danziger's blog, The Year in Pictures, is well worth a look. (http://pictureyear.blogspot.com/)

Very interesting photos, links, and looks at New York gallery shows. Danziger owns a gallery, and has some good things coming up this year, including Viviane Sassen and Annie Leibovitz this spring.

There are some very, very nice pix at that blog, a good variety of images.

Thanks for sharing it.

Fwiw, I do not share Danziger's opinion on this:

"Whatever has been going on in her life, Annie Leibovitz not only remains but reigns as the number one portrait photographer in the world."

Perhaps Danziger never heard of Yusof Karsh. http://karsh.org/ I saw an exhibition in Nagoya of Karsh's portraits, 20x24 and 24x36 prints. All made from 8x10 negs. Seeing Karsh's images up close totally changed how I look at portraiture.

An exhibition of 100 Karsh prints is scheduled to go on display at USC Fisher Museum (Los Angeles) in Sept this year, 2010. I think it is in your area, you will enjoy it.

Thanks for the heads up about the Karsh exhibit. I went to UCLA, but I think I can probably go to SC every once in a while. I went to a track meet there as recently as 1998.
