I'm always interested in photo forensics, but a friend asked me about this photo of his sister in law from the late 1970's, and I don't know. Why do the white lines on the track widen in the background? He also asked why the lines were so wavy? This is a camera snap of an original print.

I think that they are wider due to being out of focus. As you go back further, further out of focus and therefore the lines get wider. As for the waviness, that is likely due to the temperature being hot and heat waves generating from the ground. This is a common effect and is exaggerated when using a telephoto lens.

The enlarger did not have a proper glass pressure plate and was heating up the negative unevenly. It is also possible that print isn't supported properly giving the wave.

Besides that your snap has huge distortions exaggerating everything.
