My favorite self portrait. Canon 5D and 35L.
Awesome Shot John, How did YOU do it ?
A couple of oldies, with my Canon G3. The swiveling screen was great for self portraits; don´t know why I don´t do it with my new G1...

How Wonderful it is to Meet You...LOVLEY
The orange one was shot at midnight in my garden, lit only from a window.
Pippi Långstrump (she´s Swedish, you know....) says hello, too. Don´t know if you really look like her, but there´s a resemblance with her author, Astrid Lindgren, in her younger years! Something to be proud of!
Hello everyone, here a self portrait, during I was flying over Korsika
in a helicopter. Greetings Ydo

Best to All- H
I very rarely do portraits. Not because I don't like it, but I just don't spend enough time around people! I figure my avatar is plenty enough of me for people to have to put up with, so here's a portrait from over a year ago of my friend Jon.
While I do shoot portraits, I am very rarely on the side of the camera where I get into the picture. I feel I am doing folks a favor there
But in the spirit of things, I dug out an old self-portrait done years ago when I first got a 1DsMkII and wanted to test it out. Not remotely close to what some others have posted, but this is what I got. Besides, this is the way most folks see me anyway.
2 self portrait/lens tests.... if the picture doesn't break the lens I keep it !! http://forum.getdpi.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif

Alright Helen, I'll come out from the shadows, kind of

Posted these in the Small Sensor board a week or two ago but here goes again. All taken with a Leica D-Lux 4

Well, Helen, you had me hooked from the very beginning with your first shot with a Contax G1.
This was shot with a Contax G1 with a 35mm lens. The film was TMax 3200, hence the pronounced grain. This was shot in a hotel room while on the road, after a long, long day of shooting. I know it is a mirror shot but I really hate having my picture made.
Spring of 2003. Death Valley. Unbearable heat (it must have been at least 85 degrees). Only the Spam in my fanny pack kept me alive and here today to tell this tale.
P.S. My thanks to Mister Whitekeys for the inspiration to take this photo.
My avatar is my last self-portrait, so here's a portrait I posted over in the Nikon forum from 2 weeks ago. Daughter of a friend of mine (as opposed to Andre - all the cuties are his friends):
Photography is all about experimentation and without it you will never learn art.

At risk of being yellow carded by Guy.....here's my wife reaching for the last cans of Spam on the sand dunes of Death Valley.
Alaskans buy more Spam, per capita, than any other state in the Union (except Hawaii, go figure). These pics were actually taken in search of fame, if not fortune, when we attended a performance of Mr. Whitekey's at the Fly By Night Club in Spendard, the sleaziest bar (and most outrageous comedy club) in Alaska. Alas, this fine establishment has closed it's doors forever.
"Except Hawaii, go figure." In The Happy Isles of Oceania, Paul Theroux theorized that Spam was popular in the South Pacific because of the history of cannibalism there, suggesting that Spam, or at least pork, tasted like human flesh. Apparently in some cultures they refer to cannibalism as eating "long pork."

OK, just because you asked, Helen. Otherwise I'd just as soon keep my funny face outta sight, LOL. Love yours!!
Don't forget, they could also order baked beans too.
"I want three tins of beans!"
"I told you to lay off the beans, ya whore!"
"That's my wife. Smells a bit, but she's got a heart of gold."
Yes, I'm an Alpha Geek.
Okay we've never met and outside of being just a little taller than "average" you might not notice me passing by on the street. Here's a shot of my lovely wife that I just happen to be in; thank goodness I have long arms.
Does this count as a portrait? It's the closest I ever get to one, anyway. Me in my long winter coat, taken by my spouse with my camera, Christmas Day at the "Monster Park" in Bomarzo, Italy (a garden full of really weird sculpture from the 1500's):
Love it Joan...a Shorter Do and another cam
Lovely Shot of YOU & Your Wife...IronCreek
Very Cool to finally see You Lisa... as opposed to your little furry avatar
That's a cool shot - reminds me of my wordly possessions from my divorce!
Another mirror shot from on the road. This time, the camera was a Bessa R2A rangefinder with a 35mm lens. Once again, the film was T-Max 3200.
I rarely shoot people--but did try a quickie self of myself about a year ago with my G9. Might try some with the G1 one of these days--or actually get lights and the 5D out and do it right.
TRES COOOL Everyone...keep em Coming
Miriam (do head shots count as portraits?)
