It seems like Panasonic is going to update the firmware for both G1 & GH1 bodies, in addition to the 45-200 lens on September 17:

Yes, they all come at a premium.

I expect more "updates" with the same caveat.

Get the 65 Euro battery or else!!

I upgraded the 45-200 which I use with my E-P1. Doesn't seem to make any significant difference.

I went from G1 v1.2 to 1.4 for the camera body and
from v1.0 to1,1 for the 45/200 lens today.

My 3rd party battery ($13)is working OK so skipping
v1.3 for the camera body update maybe the answer.

Re: New firmware for the 45-200

Panasonic apparently pulled the firmware update from the site....I never got to do it. It will probably return with the batteries disabled. I don't have any third party versions.

Someone at DPReview uploaded the G1 firmware to a download site, so it's still available-

Cool! Thanks for the link (and thanks to the person who downloaded and is sharing as well)!

I will give it a go and report back.

    BTW, what does it improve?

Something critical for all your legacy lens needs:

    Good one!

[FWIW, I do use AF (sunny conditions) with the Oly-D17/2.8 and Ricoh GW-1 (0.75X converter) combo. As long as it does not make it any worse, it should be OK.]

    Thanks for posting, Hot!

This is one serious camera to take a look at. Once I understand how they have included both phase/contrast detection focus and how they implemented it, I may get one.

This could be the answer for a larger sized sensor compact cam.

One thing is bad, but you can live with ... only MONO mic, no external possible - but AA cells and 1280x720 movie ... that's fine.
    And SMALL!

Vivek... I think we could get enough donations around here to buy you one if you would consent to the yellow or hot pink and we took away your black paint and markers. What do you think?????

Terry, Bad paint job is my speciality!

I am not going to say much about this other than it really made me sit up and take a look (no light bulb icons?!).

There are practical reasons (other than the size) why I have not hacked up my black Nikon D300 (with its red stripe). The live view implementation there sucks.

If the Pentax Kx offers what I hope for, it is the one and I am getting one, whatever color I can get my hands on.

    Hi Vivek

In regard to your "country of origin", I would suggest that you get the orange one. Me, I'll wait untill they have a black, yellow and red one

Rafael, I like Orange (nothing to do with the flag colors).

I am sure there will be orange editions shipped here.

It's pretty amazing that Panasonic was able to issue a firmware update that causes Pentax cameras to appear in different colors!

Or did the thread wander off behind the barn and bump its head?

It is there but has a warning which you must acknowledge about the 3rd party batteries.

Re: New firmware for the 45-200

I'm using a lot of 3rd party batteries with different cameras, also with G1/GH1 - they work well - like original.

I do not need firmware updates, some people think, needing these updates make 10x better pictures :-)

Yesterday I ordered two NP-95's for 4.50 (with shipping each) from Hongkong instead 40-50 for originals from European dealers.

So, which one needs to be used for "upgrade" if cheaper/longer lasting batteries would work?
