Is a nice touch and does not look fake. Just wanted to know :-)

    Re: Blends

I would leave the swan in the back. It somehow distracts me from the quite mood and looks a bit cliche to me. But I am sure more people than not will like it this way.

I'll take a look at it that way. I think the angle might be an issue. Thanks for the suggestion.

    Re: Blends

I think I need to live with this image for awhile. I think one of the hazards about trying to post a new image every day on my http://regnierstudionews.com/ site is that you don't spend enough time critiquing the image. I like the idea of the swan being smaller and further back because it isn't quite the cliche, as you pointed out earlier, but I think maybe the composition is stronger with it up front. It makes a nice triangle with the trees on each side, but it is more typical. Any way, I appreciate your time and comments, I'll keep looking at it for awhile.

    cheers

    Re: Blends

With this last version the tree reflections and the swan have about equal weight. In the first image they dominated the nice reflections. At least for me.

Bus as you said this is a difficult balance and no right/wrong.

Flying thru the Czech countryside in our car. I love shooting this way. The foreground trees and bushes are blurred because they are close to the road, but the distant trees remain somewhat sharp.

"Get Out Of My Picture Lady"
I know it’s a strange title, but how many times has this happened to you when you are trying to take a photo and someone walks in front of you?Of course I made this image from a couple of images so I’m just having fun with the title. But it does happen all the time. But this one, I like.

Love this one, Mike. There are images there, but you have to work a little to find them. In a sense, the texture is the subject, the images are secondary to the effect.

Great shot Uwe. I have seen a few landscapes like that with the lonely tree while crossing Kansas, but it is flat as a pancake. Those CA. hills are wonderful.

    >Those CA. hills are wonderful.

We are very close to a very beautiful stretch (Hwy 25). Even as there are thousands of trees only a few stand out. Then there is the time of the year and of course the light.

All the trees posted in the last few entries were photographed yesterday on a 180 mile trip through mainly oak hills.

At one point we drove over an hour and met about 4 passing cars (wonderful for the senses, but also many curves :-) ). Was quite warm though (83-93F).

I'm jealous. I seem to mainly shoot in my backyard. that's why I post so many
old shots from prague or other trips.
But, there is beauty every where, sometimes I guess I just have to look harder.
I haven't been shooting the vineyards in CA. for over a year now. I miss going there.

Me too, Hwy 25 :-). At least it feels like a backyard compared to San Jose.

    We also have vineyards here.

I was talking with Andrea today on Skype with video, (she’s in Prague) and her image started to break up and the pixels were really interesting. I started doing screen captures and this is the resulting image.

    Excellent concept and nice result.

Reminded me about "Paris Street View" by Michael Wolf http://photomichaelwolf.com/paris_street_view/

Why? Because that low res images are so very much capable to tell stories.

    Re: Blends

Thanks Michael, Keith and Uwe. I think I've just found a way to do portraits without all the hassle of travel and equipment.
I took more captures of a friend of mine last night to give it another try.
I have also taken one of the square images and made it a 20x20 image size. It looks pretty cool. So, I think this image could be really large and interesting.

I should also try shooting the skype screen with my ep-1 just to see if the quality might make a difference. Could be the straight capture is easier and just as successful. I'll let you know.

    cheers

maybe you record the screen as video screen capture and can this way extract any possible frame?

Good idea, but how do you do that? do you mean to put a video camera on a stand and record the screen or is it internal?
Would the quality be the same (what quality there is)?

Love "Organic Rocks", Uwe. The shapes are so interesting they might give you a texture layer in another blend (turned vertically I see some Van Gogh cypresses in there)

    Mike said what I meant

"The rocks might be interesting blend with an abstract landscape"

    Re: Blends

Since Mike Regnier joined the forum, first in bokehgraphy, and now mostly in blends, I have admired his work. I thank him for parking himself here as I have learned a lot, as have many others.
I hope the relationship lasts and we can follow wherever his creative paths takes him.
I really liked one of the earlier blends that Mike did, so I asked him to do one of his 2'X2' wood mounted, encaustic wax finished pictures for me.
These things have to be seen to be believed

Here is a photo of the picture hanging in my condo.
