Keith... fantastic image... it evokes all kinds of moods... I see it as an image illustrating a book or a movie of some sort... hmmmmm. Very nice.

Pretty cool Keith. Not sure how you got the effect, but the abstract grass is the perfect subject for this look.

Thanks Leica and Don for the kind comments. I took this while on a cruise of South America

I found this to be a very spooky place. We arrived there at 8am and the sea was as calm as it ever gets (3m waves). The lighting was spectacular.

Just one Chilean Navy family lives on it, and they rotate each year. There is a memorial to all the poor souls who died trying to get around it. We circled for about an hour and took off for the Falkland Islands (sounds like I'm in an aircraft, but this was a Holland America cruise boat)

So many of us in this forum like to photo lone trees - somehow they evoke emotions of strength, longevity and independence. Or am I being daft?

    Lovely image, Uwe.

Not at all, also so calm. Finding trees with a near perfect shape is the hard part.

Would love to visit this tree more often but it is about 45 miles from home.

    Not really.

Note: This image suffers from lens flare as the sky was actually hazy white.

The only thing so far I regret about our new home location is that we are 50miles further away from SF.

Former San Jose and now Hollister (50miles SE of San Jose).

San Jose to SF was about 60 miles.

I took this shot from the car window as I was driving home from the west coast. I think this was in South Dakota somewhere. It was an early foggy morning, perfect for photography.

Lovely image Mike - green with envy

I took this image by stopping the car and getting out to shoot.

No, seriously, it had been raining non stop for over a week now, forests are far more interesting when they're wet and this was my prize this morning when the fog was lifting:

Really nice shot! I'm not sure what you are doing to get this effect, but the trees are incredible.

by the way, my wife wouldn't travel with me if I stopped the car every time I saw something that I wanted to shoot, so I shoot it anyway, but would much prefer to stop the car and shoot. I've often thought that the best way to travel would be on a Vespa. You could pull over and shoot easily.

Sort of. Blend with another layer with motion blur and a couple more ingredients this time - other times: panning etc.

    “Tree And Branch Reflection”
Today was a beautiful foggy day for shooting, so we took the dogs and went for a stroll along the mill stream park. The dogs kept me moving all the time, so I was shooting pretty fast. I was shooting with my Olympus EP-2 and a tilt adapter with an old 28mm Pentax screw mount lens.

I like the mood, the tree and the tree reflections. The branch is more disturbing to me.
