Re: G1 with Japanese made lenses

-Yellofit- these are very beautiful! This is the only lens I still have from around 1972 when I bought it new. Very expensive for me at the time. Still is a great lens.

-Hakkalo- Don't know much about cine lenses and certainly never heard of this one, but the pictures are very charming and don't have that "restless bokeh" you see in many of those lenses OTOH, which can be fun too.

Here are some 200 mm tele photographs from today exept the last one which a 300mm shot. This in the context of the - in search for a 300 mm - thread. All are shot in the Amsterdam harbour.

    Cheers, Michiel

hakkalo - You should bring them all out and start shooting, i am pretty certain you will be very pleased with the results.

Michiel Schierbeek - Nice tele pics you have there, just want to check whether camera shake and focusing is an issue handheld at those ranges. The old Nikkors are the same age as me. Bought them off fairly good condition at around US$130, i would think these were very expensive prime lenses in the 70s.

The Walz is a 8mm D mount Cine needs to be modified in order to achieve infinity

This shot is taken with Mamiya Sekor 80mm F 2.8 lens of Mamiyaflex TLR.

Very funny! It will be tough, though since f2.8 does not produce very shallow DoF. But, it was cheap ($26) and if I'm not happy with it, it will go right back on eBay.

    Very true! I'm still trying to get a 28mm (or even better...a 24mm) f2.0.

Re: G1 with Japanese made lenses

Have been passing by these tile formations in the portals in my neighbourhood and other neighbourhoods of the beginning of the 20th century all my life without paying much attention to it. Forgot how beautiful they are and how they provide a nice subject for (abstract) photography.
I start to love the Canon FD 50/1.4 more and more and I prefer it above the OM 50/1.4 and I thought it is even a tad sharper as the Konica Hexanon 50/1.7 but I am not sure when I look at those posted here.
    BTW no trypods used.

Re: G1 with Japanese made lenses

Just bought those 2, like new, Soligor C/D F2 lenses for the friendly sum of 80,--
Could not find much on the net about them besides a few pics of which some of them looked promising. Could also be because they are not so good.
They feel and look very well made. Especially the 135/2 ( filter 77 mm ) is huge even compared to the Canon FD 135/2.

If anybody knows more about these lenses, I will be glad to hear.
Will post some pics later in this thread.

They are two good looking lenses to say the least and do appear to be in mint condition. I'm looking forward to seeing some images from them!

Well done! Isn't it a nice lens indeed!
Did you use a tripod or did you hold the lens to keep the camera in one piece?

"Did you use a tripod or did you hold the lens to keep the camera in one piece?"

No tripod! Tis a heavy beast, 710 gm + the weight of the adapter, so I carry the lens in my left hand so as not to over-stress the mount. It is Version 2 by Tokina, very nice condition I got on e-bay for 52US$.

I've one too. It is too bulky and heavy which I seldom use.

Re: G1 with Japanese made lenses

After having our mailbox smashed up twice this last winter by the snow-plow, I rebuilt the mount to the post. Instead of rigidly fixing the mount to the post I pocketed the post in the mount so if it gets hit it will hopefully swing with the impact & not smash the mount all up as before. After pounding out the sheet metal as best I could to restore the box to shape so the door would open & close again I had to use duct tape to close the tear in the back end. I do not expect that to last though.

Here are two with the Canon FD 300/4 of the Corus Steel works in Ijmuiden and one with the Accura Ultratel 400/5.9 from the harbour of Amsterdam.
The Canon lens is sharper and very good. The Accura was like brandnew and it is a very well made preset lens but a lot softer. Bought it for 10,-
All shot from long distances on a tripod.
