    Hi Dan,
Many thanks for your kind words. Ron, congratulations on your new acquisition. As the beautiful beach shot shows, the Panasonic 7-14mm lens can capture extraordinary images. As I have already mentioned it to Biglouis of UK, it goes wherever I go together with my GF1. Best regards to 7-14mm enthusiasts, Leica 77

    Re: Panasonic 7-14

I did some quick comparisons last night between the Lumix 7-14, my now departed Leica 16-18-21 WATE and my new-version CV 15/4.5. I plan to upload the results for people to have a gawk at.

PS. Where is the foghorn in the beach shot? The foreground is a bit distracting :-)

    Thanks gentlemen.

I was trying to get a nice picture of the black dog, but got tired of waiting for the lady to get out of the way.

    Hi Keith and Louis,
Many thanks for your kind comments. It was quite dark inside the aquarium and I was fortunate to be able to capture some marine mega fauna in action. Best regards, Leica 77.

I wondered that but it is in fact a totally separate private company. Their web site is interesting, if you are into researching businesses (I am a business studies teacher so it is for me).

Ron and Dan - excellent collection of images.

Ron, I did comment on one of your mall shots in the Flickr group for the 7-14.

Dan - what a weird ship. Is that a submarine that they are building next to it?

Louis, what you are looking at is a bottom section of a new boat that will be located mid-ship running to the stern. You can see in the picture below a tug boat that is being built next to the Cade Candies. The shafts that run from the power plant that turn the screws fit into the assemblies shown and the prop is then attached.

    Crossing Brick Lane

Early morning shot - 9mm as opposed to widest setting - less distortion although I did apply a little perspective correction in CS3. This is also iso100 and f8.0. Man, the sharpness and detail of this lens is nothing short of amazing.

Louis, very cool too. What kind of processing treatment did you give that image? (I ask because it looks slightly tone-mapped, but without all the telltale halos normal tone-mapping applies.)

I sometimes use lab space in CS3 to boost colours which I did in this case.

However, I should add that the latest version of Lightroom, which I also use, has much better control over boosting light and shadow and overall saturation, so that was also part of the processing.

What I'm seeing is more than a LAB color edit. Maybe something in LR, as I'm not a LR user. Perhaps a clarity boost and/or some HDR mapping built into LR?
