It all depends on how much you think you'll tote the lens in your camera bag. To be honest my 7-14 often gets left at home because it is a relatively large lens in terms of m43 lenses. When I do have it with me, it does product quite astonishing results, although I would judge it to be far superior at the 14mm end than 7mm. That said I have not been impressed (so far) with the test images for the 14/2.8 wide open as shown at Dpreview. The distortion in the examples shown is very poor as is the softness.

Flying over the US from NYC back home to SD. Rented this lens from LensRentals for the weekend, and it worked out nicely. Great lens to have if you're bought into the m4/3 format.

I would definitely check out the Sigma before committing to either. I haven't seen the Sigma yet but the Lumix (while a really fun focal length!) is fairly poor. Lots of CA and very distorted.

If the Sigma 10-20 that you're talking about is the F3.5 EX DC HSM with 4 aspherical elements and 3 LD elements it's a very nice piece of kit! Heads and shoulders above the Lumix!

    Hi Tesselator, agoglanian, and all,

My apologies for the inadvertent typo. What I meant was the Sigma 10-20mm lens dedicated for 4/3 cameras -- not for micro 4/3 cameras. I recently had an opportunity to actually handle this lens on one of 4/3 cameras and I was impressed by the near absence of distortion at both ends of the focal lengths. With the use of a 4/3 -> micro 4/3 adapter, one can still enjoy the Sigma 10-20mm 4/3 lens with micro 4/3 cameras. Best regards,

    Price Drop

B&H/USA has dropped price to less than $845USD

    http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...io_7_14mm.html

That's about $150USD less than I paid a year ago and even less than the Nokton 25mm f/.95

It may be a matter of time that Sigma may indeed introduce the super-wide angle zoom in the 10-20mm range in m4/3 mount. Let us hope so! Best regards,

I would believe that the Zuiko 9-18mm, both versions, are just as good. Then there's the 11-22mm which is faster and a beautiful lens.

There is actually the ZD 9-18 f/4.0-5.6 which is not a large lens by any means. It requires the 4/3rds to m4/3rds adaptor (I have the Panny MA-1) the same as the ZD 7-14. Its also a very good lens as evidenced by the photos above. That being said, its not constant aperture and is not as wide, but still usually wide enough for most applications.

    Ron, thanks for the comment.

A great collection of shots. The escalator one really brings on the vertigo!

I really like the one of the bottles, although it is fascinating to see the lens being used for candid portraiture, as well.

This lens is so versatile, which is beautifully shown by the variations in shots on this thread. Don's portrait here is also great.

Leica77... wonderful drama, lines, and colors in that last one. And the Manila buildings images are great.

Louis... rich tones, details, and textures in the train station image.

Ron... wonderful image with the bottles.

jkung... that first fireworks image is great; nice capture.

Leica.... WOW, that's a cool image, cool structure. I'm often envious of all the wonderful places many of you guys so often visit. I'm hoping to be able to do more travel in the years ahead. It's a big, wonderful world out there that so many people never experience. Seeing many of your images provides an amazing window out to that world.

    Hi My Friend Don,
Many thanks for your kind comments. Indeed, it's a big wonderful world we live in and there are so many great places we can visit near and far. Though the structure looks like a temple, it is the Grand Hotel of Taipei. The bright light from the late afternoon sun seemed just right for a few snapshots that day. Best,

Striking image Leica 77. Speaking of hotels, here's the ceiling of the lobby in the Langham Place Hotel in Hong Kong, and a view from the top of the adjoining shopping mall:
