    Russian made lens

I see many Helios 58mm, f2 lenses made in the USSR on eBay & was wondering if any of you folk have any experience with them. Any good?

    I've got one - a 44/2 58mm f2 - it's extremely sharp but not very contrasty colours - great for B+W.

Bought one from the Ukraine to use with my G1 as a portrait lens. I like it. Nicer bokeh than my Nikkor 50 1.8, though not as sharp at the edges (which I don't mind, for portraits).

I did some further searching around & it gets mostly positive reviews.

    Just won a model 44-2 on eBay for $9US + $20 shipping.

    Doing a happy dance now.
