Don, WOW and yes I see where you are coming from. I don't think m43rds can quite match the results of the Canon (yet?). Very nice results from the 45/1.8 although I really like the softer (more natural?) look of the 85/1.4. I can see why you need a more professional m43rds portrait lens than the ones currently on offer.

Ron, I have to say it is the quality of the landscape photographs you have taken, especially their colouration which sold me on getting the lens for myself. That and the fact that I found it available over the counter, so I could touch and feel it first(!).

A couple more from which illustrate the very nice low light performance of this lens at f1.4

Kamoulox, your series from France is is pretty nice.

Ronsmith, the 25/1,4 seems to work very well for landscape shots. There is really alot of fine details captured and rendering is very natural. It has that special draw to it that I can't seem to find word to describe it. Impressive landscape series.

Thanks Justin! I really like the way the 25 renders detail. Certainly very sharp, but somehow less clinical than the 20/1.7.

Is this lens stabilized? I can't seem to find that info anywhere.

I love my Lumix 14-42 and 45-200 because of the OIS, but I can't justify shelling out this kind of cash for a lens without it.

    Thanks!

Me either, thanks for the info. I shoot a lot of video and the megaOIS REALLY helps when you're moving the camera, even on a dolly. I'll pass on this lens for now then.

It's truly unfortunate that this lens does not have OIS. Like many of you, I have the 20 f/1.7 which is optically very close to the 25 f/1.4. You really should get something more than a little longer and a little faster for the much bigger and more costly 25mm f/1.4. For the money and size, I don't feel I can justify the purchase. If it had OIS, I would probably buy it.

on the contrary, it is truly fortunate that optical design was not affected by necessity to have a small separate group of optical elements to be floated by OIS

If you think about the maximum aperture, which is the whole basis for the lens, then OIS is a bit redundant. You have to be in very, very low light to have need of it. In fact in bright sunlight you really are fighting to get the speed from exceeding the shutter range.

It was taken at one of the shopping mall in Indonesia. The sign just means wanna pee this way and this way too if there's fire. But funny sign and potentially misleading sign
Here's the indoor shot of the mall:

Very nice exemplars of what the lens can achieve. I also like the processing. Makes me wonder if I really do need a Leica M9M...
