The answer is clear - if you're anguishing about whether you need the 75 . . or the 35-100 . . . you clearly need both (aaaaaahhhhhhhh)

Jono, where do you find all these logical solutions? I could hardly have expressed it better myself

Jono, your computer needs a reality checker in addition to the spelling checker. It's "... will you get..." not "... did you get..."
Dunno... it's rather expensive, out of stock at the moment and my wallet is being re-built as dwelling for homeless elephants for Christmas (yes, there's that much free space in there)

    long enough...
    I just ordered the 75mm......from Samy's ;-)

This lens is so good that it's now mounted permanently on the GH2, making it available always.

The 75mm f/1.8 from Olympus is really at the level of the Zeiss and Leica lenses. Sharp wide open and an insanely good bokeh...
    All shots taken at f/1.8.

When I told a friend that I was going to Costa Rica, he said that the country should be subtitled "Monkeys ate my lunch". And, indeed, they are ever vigilant for an unguarded sandwich.

75/1.8 at f/6.3 - sorry about the bokeh.

This is proving to be a very flexible lens. I bought it to do critters, but it makes nice bokeh sandwiches:

In this area, along the Mekong River in Vientiane, there used to be food stalls, trees and lots of people. Then the Chinese decided to donate a River Promenade to the poor people of Laos. Now, there's concrete, a couple of foreigners an a Chinese temple (built of concrete as well). Yes, the weather is as hot as it looks.

    Hello everyone,

Just thought I'd post a link to a blog post I wrote comparing this Oly 75mm 1.8 to the Pany 35-100 2.8. I did my best comparing these two lenses on my GH3. Not perfect but it was fun and interesting at least.

Nice window light late on an otherwise grey afternoon. Using the 75 at f/4.0:

Yes it does. I see a great Milich grip there, but no hood! I manage fine without a strap but I guess depends on how you like to walk around (I always have a bag).

And the real purpose of this weekend's get-together (pictures above) was to see the full range of wildflowers now blooming in Israel. Our spring is now fully underway, a few weeks late, in fact:

Wildflowers, like the special dark purple Iris in the second picture, are found in little patches of sandy ground preserved between the fields, and behind the dunes.

Some more from two days ago. Several not by me but my our second unit photographer, who appears in an earlier post in a pink hat. She's away right now polishing up her Arabic in an Army-sponsored workshop, and can't stop me from posting.

and of course, you can't have a lovely day in Israel without a barbeque, called here "mangal:"

    Flags and morning traffic

The three sets of flags are State of Israel, City of Jerusalem, and US. They are on display all along the streets leading to the Knesset. So I guess Obama will shortly be in town.

And for important visitors, our parks along the routes get a Potemkin clean-up.
