Now we are talking - the 12-40 is one of the most marvellous lenses I ever shot and it clearly shows in your photo(s). I compared it many times to Fuji and Nikon equivalents (equivalent focal length) and I was always surprised by how good the 12-40 renders. One of my main reasons to stay in m43 territory.

I like the image you shot with the 12-40 much more than the older one - both colours, sharpness and rendering of OOF areas.

    Enjoy,

    Peter

PS: you might want to try a EM1.2 (used or low price) as there are now a number of these cameras on the market meanwhile and you would love m43 even more
It's indeed a very impressive lens, and totally different from the Panasonic 12-35mm. As for Olympus cameras, I will buy one sooner or later, but will wait until the E-M5 III is launched. I will also be looking for a 75mm (again).

Arrival at General Santos City, the place with the fishing boats and the children and all the friendliness. It must be the safest place on earth, since there are armed soldiers and control posts everywhere, not least at the airport

If you are looking for leaders for tomorrow, walk into any poor neighbourhood in the developing world. In most countries, you'll be surrounded by children. Surprisingly often, there will be one girl, rarely a boy, at the age of 10-12 following you around, often carrying a younger sibling, explaining about the village and the life there. She's always a smart child, speaks English better than the others, and already at that young age, she has visions and aims.

My dream would be to gather or sponsor those girls, give them proper education, give them the opportunity to flourish. The world needs more educated, smart girls with visions and aims.

Well, back from this years tour in Europe on the motorbike. We travelled from the UK to Makarska in Croatia via quite a few countries! As ever, pics from our stopovers and nothing in between! (I am either riding or doing photography, my wife takes the road shots from the back of the bike whilst moving). Anyway, here is the first....
Bavaria, Germany. Looking south. (3 shot pano)

These folks don't have much money, but candy is cheap. So the kids get candy, the sugar industry thrives and the teeth rot and fall out.

Re: Fun with 4/3rds cameras/ Image Thread

Here's the problem when old men mix Panasonic and Zuiko lenses:
The zoom ring of the Zuikos turn the wrong way, so when I return to the camera with the Panasonic lens, I know that I have to turn it the other way on that lens. Unfortunately, I also turned the command wheel for the aperture the wrong way, so when I intended to go from f/8 to f/5.6, I went to f/11 and then to f/14. No, I don't read that complicated stuff in the viewfinder. My OM-1 didn't have that. What are all those numbers anyway?

Yes Jørgen, governments ought to be far more restrictive and don't let the industry produce all that they want to produce, we are in really deep trouble all over,
it's now the politicians ought to save us and the planet too, by taking right decisions and some alarming restrictions. But these decisions will be unpopular even though deeply necessarily, but the politicians want to be elected next time too...
so they won't do it - so what shall we do? it's a hard nut to crack...if I were more religious I would pray rather often...

In Norway they recently tried heavier taxes on products with sugar. The result: people travelled to Sweden to buy instead. And Norwegians are supposed to be educated

Aren't a lot of Scandinavians taking the ferry to Germany to tank up on alcoholic beverages (and get tanked in the process)?

Restricting the use of an illegal substance is very hard, restricting a legal one nearly impossible

When I still lived in Norway, it was like this:
The Norwegians go to Sweden, the Swedes go to Denmark and the Danes go to Germany, all because it was cheaper on the other side of the border. Norwegians still go to Sweden, in large numbers. In Norway it's called "Harry trade", since the name Harry is kind of derogatory in Norway. Long story about that that I don't have time for right now.

And an other (off topic) curiosity : Swiss citizens go to Germany and buy goods . (mostly food)
On export , they get a full refund of the german V.A.T , which is 19% and then they have to pay the SWISS V.A.T. which is only 8% . . No , sorry , this is NO FAKE .

That keeps the customs officers on both sides of the boarder rather busy
    Regards . Jürgen .

Re: Fun with 4/3rds cameras/ Image Thread

Challenging image this. Bangkok with its afternoon heat haze, a lens that is only sharp at f/8 and the GX8 that isn't the latest, greatest when it comes to detail rendering. Solution? Buy a G9, a 50-200mm or 200mm + TC1.4x and take the photo in the morning. That sounds exepensive, doesn't it?

    GX8 with Pana 100-300mm II @ 300mm and f/8

It's funny that Bangkok, one of the flatest cities on earth, has a local rail system that in places looks like a roller coaster
