Colorado Springs, checking in...

Lumix G1 and 14-45 lens:

Just got my Konica-m43 adaptor today, so hope to be shooting some Hexanon primes, soon.

Cheers...

Bruce - beautiful shot. Where is it (the one right above this post)?
It's Colorado Springs, this is one of the giant sandstone rocks in the city park 'Garden of the Gods'. These red rocks are said to have been on the ocean floor eons ago and were 'stood up' when the Rocky Mountains rose, pushing the sea back to it's current boundary, the Gulf of Mexico. They also say this is at least the 2nd set of Rocky Mountains, and possibly the third set. Each set having risen, been totally worn flat again by erosion, only to rise again...

Re: Fresh Snow - Colorado Springs...

What a beautiful image, Bruce! Did you use HDR processing?
Hello Tuillo...

Appreciate....

No HDR, it's just RAW->TIF via silkypix then Photoshop to JPG.

Impressive. Perfect exposure and rich colors. What Film Mode did you use?
I always use "Nostalgic" but I thought that in RAW all color processing was occuring inside Silkypix? Is that a correct assumption?

The case of the 21mm Hexanon on the G1

Lot's of talk about Leica M wide angle lenses not working well in the corners of the m43 format. So I went for a Konica-m43 adaptor instead and this was taken today with my 21mm f2.8 Konica Hexanon on the Lumix G1 camera. Looks like the wide angle hexanon's do okay in the corners?

Konica Hexanon 21mm f2.8? is that a rangefinder lens? I've got a 21mm f4... I thought that was the widest/fastest they went?

The registration distance to the Hexanon AR fit lenses is quite a bit longer - I think that helps with the corner sharpness, all mine are fine.

Nice shot by the way - looks like ideal conditions for landscapes!

Cheers

Hello Brian...

No, the Hexanon 21mm f2.8 was the last 21mm Konica produced for the SLR line. It's very small and compact compared to that earlier 21mm f4 lens. It takes 55mm filters. I also have a 24mm f2.8 with stops to f22 that is also very small and compact. There was a 24mm f2.8 with stops to f16 that was larger (but not as large as the 21mm f4).

And agree that the longer registration distance makes all the difference in corner sharpness compared to the rangefinder lenses.

See Ya...
