Phew there are some pictures there . . . something to live up to

Can I introduce my self as a new member. New'ish to serious picture taking, been waving a Nikon around for 20 years, but only in the past 18 months realised its more than an expensive P&S :banghead: Many years wasted . . .

One has recently experienced a personal crisis and gone back to basics, sell up, down sizing to a D5000/18-70mm set up, plus a G1 for Hazel my partner to play with . . . thats my story and I'm sticking to it . . . its a great camera ain't it.

Creaking joints and grey hair require the use of a flippy flappy screen these days . . . as they say; 'its not what you have got ,its how you use it' The G1 is only a couple of weeks old, and due to weather and Hazels poor health we have not been able to get out.

I had a play in the garden the other day, this was the first picture out of the G1/14-45+4x closeup filter:

Post more after Hazel comes out of hospital on the 19th.

I love just taking a stroll with the E-P2 + 20mm f1.7 in my left hand with a wrist strap... just casual shooting, so much fun!

Some great shots there. The 20/1.7 is amazingly versatile as your close up shots demonstrate. Although I have 45/2.8 as well, I often do use the 20/1.7 for flower shots as it has a good close focusing distance. The door picture is particluarly nice with lovely natural, pastel colours.

... Break Time

Panasonic G1 + Lumix G 20mm f/1.7
ISO 250 @ f/1.7 @ 1/30 second

As my party finished with dinner after last Thursday's evening at the galleries, this cook was on his break, sitting on a stool in Belden Lane. He was amenable to my making a couple of photographs ... :)

Comments and critique always appreciated.

A couple of days in Vientiane with the GH1. It's a very civilised place, but with a weird mix of culture; traditional Lao, Buddhism, Communism, western backpackers, Thai commercialism, French colonialism, aid workers from more humanitarian organisations than you knew existed... and so on.

Great shot, Godfrey. Love the atmosphere - and the bloke who seems to really enjoy his break.

We had the pleasure of attending our eldest daughter Amber's art exhibition this evening, to see her GCSE project work... this painting in acrylics was part of her final exam.
