It is indeed, particularly at distances from near portrait and up to around 10 metres, and obviously as long as light allows. As opposed to the 100-300mm that I also use a lot, this lens is sharpest at f/5.6, so no need to stop down much. The 100-300 works best at f/8.

No, the six year olds don't usually wear makeup around here, but it was Children's Day yesterday, a big event in Thailand, celebrated at all schools.

The more of this 100-300 I see the more I start to like that lens ;)

This red belly woodpecker was having a hard time hanging on to the feeder with a 20 mph wind blowing at -5 F.
