- having purchased yesterday a Fujifilm X-T3, Fujinon 100-400 (with 1.4x TC) and the 18-55 lens (for walking about photography). I feel a bit sad to leave this part of the forum because everyone here has always been so polite and supportive. Maybe I'll see you over in the Fujifilm section as and when I begin to post the results of my new kit over there? Not goodbye, but au revoir!
You have left the m43 section with two excellent photos Louis! And many others too.

I look forward to seeing your photos on the Fuji section. I’m sure will will like the X-T3 and XF 100-400. It is a terrific camera and lens.

One interesting effect using a fisheye is that when pointing the lens and camera slightly downwards, it looks as if the photo is taken from a much higher altitude than what it was. In this one, I'm simply holding the camera over my head, composing using the LCD. As long as I keep the horizon in the middle and crop the top and bottom out, the results are quite good. Not so good for the photographers standing behind me though, struggling to get the whole crowd in the photo without some iPhone photographer poping up in front of them :ROTFL:

Yes, I went to a kite festival :)
Participants from 37 nations all over the globe. A very friendly event.

There should be more kite fliers and fewer politicians, fewer soldiers

My wife and I have been in Lahaina on Maui for the past week. A welcome temporary reprieve from Alaska winter weather. I brought my pair of GX8s, but until yesterday I hadn't taken any pictures with it. Just relaxing and enjoying the experience of being here.

Yesterday we drove to the top of the Haleakala shield volcano (~10,000 feet). Here are a few pictures of the Haleakala valley, cinder cones and observatories. What you are seeing here is not a true volcanic crater. From what I have read, the crater was eroded and filled by subsequent flows and cinder cones many years ago. The Haleakala valley is still a very interesting place to see.

Ha Ha !

I generally dislike images shot using a Fisheye lens, but that's a really good use of one - it's excellent Jorgen!

Thank you Ian. Like with all other specialist lenses... like with all other lenses, it takes practice to figure out its best use and how to work with the lens without becoming cliché. I have a long way to go, but that lens is really a joy to work with. I wish Olympus would make a 9 or 10 mm ordinary prime with similar qualities. I also use the 12 mm f/2 a lot, but it's not as good as the fisheye, particularly when it comes to sharpness, but also bcause it's not always wide enough.

Scottish kite flier, Tom Greenfield. He flies a stack of 8 ventilated quad kites, for those who know the kite dialect. Quite a feat, particularly at the precision level he operates.

New to m4/3, got an Olympus E-P3 from a friend who didn't need it anymore.

Seems a handy little camera when you don't want to take a big bagfull of stuff, only thing missing might be a viewfinder.

Some first results of a walk around after doing some shopping:

Someday I will take a photo with the EM1X that tests the capabilities Olympus created this camera to exploit. Same for the 45mm f1.2 Pro lens.

Until then....here is another photo of my usual subjects. It certainly could have been taken with any of my other cameras.

I really do like the size, ergonomics and feel of the EM1X and I have absolutely no regrets (despite the relatively high cost for a m43rds camera).

Just for the heck of it....here is a shot I took a few minutes after the image posted above. I simply stepped back a few feet to get more of the building in the photo and changed camera/lens. Generally similar image processing.

Gary, You took a step back, I also took a step back but zoomed in a bit. I think these kind of scenes are nice subjects and good to test lenses. Much better than undecorated brick walls :toocool:

I wholeheartedly agree Pieter! I love the painting on the wall you photographed. It's great to see some very good artists putting their work in public spaces for all to enjoy.
