Ah, that *old* lens! And this is a setting where the feared "purple blobs" might appear, right --the lights & skylights!?
(I've not found the problem to be frequent. And sometimes with the 12-40! (on E-M5.1) luv the 7-14's snug-fitting lens-hood cap)

It's the second (or third?) time I own this lens. It's a boring piece of glass and plastic, but it does the job and is excellent for travel. I've never had the purple blobs (I think), but maybe I'm not looking hard enough
