    OM-D E-M1 Shipment Notification

I just got an email from Olympus that my OM-D E-M1 has shipped. :-)
It should arrive by Tuesday. I ordered it online from Olympus in the US.

    K-H.
    With best regards, K-H.

Ah, so likely a bit of a wait yet for me, presuming they're filling orders in sequence. Soon... :-)

No shipment notice yet, but Olympus did call today to verify my order (some glitch in the system ... the usual sigh). Patience is a virtue.

Nothing in the UK yet as far as I know - certainly I've had no notification. (sob)

Maybe somebody with an E-M1 who can post images on this forum.
Unfortunately I seem to have used up my storage allocation for images.
Last time I tried, I couldn't post another image. Oh well.

Here is the Travel History of my package:

    Date/Time Activity Location
    - 9/30/2013 - Monday
8:52 am At local FedEx facility SANTA FE, NM
8:51 am At local FedEx facility SANTA FE, NM
    Package not due for delivery
7:24 am At local FedEx facility SANTA FE, NM
    - 9/28/2013 - Saturday
5:37 am At destination sort facility ALBUQUERQUE, NM
4:22 am Departed FedEx location MEMPHIS, TN
    - 9/27/2013 - Friday
11:59 pm Arrived at FedEx location MEMPHIS, TN
8:01 pm Left FedEx origin facility RONKONKOMA, NY
5:09 pm Picked up RONKONKOMA, NY
12:36 pm Shipment information sent to FedEx

So, my guess they will try to deliver the package tomorrow although they had time to deliver today - but I only paid for two day delivery. Hilarious!
    With best regards, K-H.

Could you not post them to Flickr or somewhere similar and link to them? That's what I always do.

    Re: OM-D E-M1 Shipment Notification

My OM-D E-M1 Black Body arrived today. Surprise, a Flash unit labeled FL-LM2 was part of the package.
I also got the MMF-3 Adapter.
However, the Power Battery Holder HLD-7 for E-M1 that I also ordered was a no show.

    Re: OM-D E-M1 Shipment Notification

Was at the camera shop briefly today. They told me this first shipment of E-M1 cameras was quite unexpected, and they were sold out within hours. No HLD7s yet either. They've got a much larger stocking order for the next shipment, I think several dozen, and a long waiting list.

I'm still waiting for mine to ship. Sigh.

I got mine this lunchtime - call from WEX and I was in there like a shot - it's sitting on the desk next to me . . . kit with the 12-50 - I don't know how many they had, but not many.

the most obvious thing is the size of the EVF - it seems huge (makes me think of the old Sony A900 with it's gorgeous viewfinder).

I have used the VF-4 for quite awhile on the OM-D E-M5.
It gives close to a 1.5x view. Can't go back once one has experienced that! :-)

Olympus hasn't issued anything other than black bodies on its pro grade cameras since the E-1 (2003) at least.

For the early Dutch birds it appears the MMF-3 adapter can be had for free.
    But I don't want that MMF-3 - I wanna have that HLD-7 for free ...

Ah. So this is how they're handling the fact that they don't have the 12-40s available yet, by offering a rebate rather than the kit price at present. That was the marked discount that buying a kit bundle was supposed to save you, when they offer it. Nothing new there.

I'm taking the rebate for the MMF-3. I only have the MMF-2, and I want the weather-sealed model for the 11-22 lens. That's a hundred and sixty dollars anyway. :-)

Yeah, Bart. Gas is a lot cheaper here than in UK or elsewhere you know.

No, never. I edited one existing page on the E-M1, when it was first announced, to include the new previews as they were coming up, that's all.

    Re: OM-D E-M1 Shipment Notification

    Godfrey,

I talked to Olympus US yesterday. You can get both the adapter and lens rebate if you are interested in the 12-40. According to them you will need a copy of the UPC from the camera and the receipt and the receipt and original UPC from the lens both bought before the end of the year, The rebate form to appear in a week or so. So basically a free adapter plus $200 off on the lens.

So basically a free adapter plus $200 off on the lens.

Nice to know. At the moment, I'm still not really all that interested in buying this lens ... although it might make sense to buy it for myself, net the $200 off, then sell it if I don't want it.

Or maybe I should forget the zoom entirely, return the chattery Summilux 25, sell my Ultron 28 and Color Skopar 28, and pay the difference to obtain the Leica Elmarit-M 28mm f/2.8 that I've been wanting for the M9. I could use that on both cameras.

    Decisions, decisions...

I finally got mine yesterday! from "the camera shop in muskegon" they were hosting Touch and Try for Olympus and had received 4 bodies as a part of event sale. Luckily I could grab one

I also ordered 12-40 considering with rebates its nearly 60% of what Pana is asking for 12-35

    Godfrey,

Wait and try the 25 on the E-M1 before you decide. In all my use on the EM-5 it only chatted maybe twice and in a particular set of circumstances, but I no longer remember what they were.

I plan to, presuming that my E-M1 arrives before I have to send the Summilux back for a full refund. If it gets tight, I might return the Summilux and buy another one a bit later to see if it works properly with that option turned off.

It's not getting any use in the meantime.

    Re: OM-D E-M1 Shipment Notification

I picked up mine from my trusty local dealer yesterday and slapped in a pre-charged battery from my EM5 collection and set it up. Quite a few interesting changes from the EM5 nothing detrimental and all very useful.

Is anyone else using AUTI IBIS? I think that I shall really like this feature as I won't need to remember to switch IBIS settings when panning in future! Just turn it off when using a tripod. Didn't have long before the light went yesterday so I will try again to day. I did note that C-AF is vastly improved though.
    Cheers, Dave

    Re: OM-D E-M1 Shipment Notification

[sigh] - No shipment notification here in Holland, I'm afraid.
According to my dealer - and if we're lucky - we get the first E-M1 shipment by the end of this month

On a brighter note: just four more weeks of envious waiting ...

    Kind regards.

I was playing around with the Olympus OM-D E-M1 + Sigma 19/2.8 and observed that it was quite easy to shoot handheld at 1 second exposure time, ISO 200, f/2.8 and get sharp images of static objects like book shelves. I don't recall that it was that easy for me with the E-M5. BTW, I kept on breathing. Amazing!

How do you like the Sigma? What does the manual focus feel like?
