Thanks Klaus;

Verona is definitely in our plans. We are staying in Venice for 8 days and are planning to visit Padua, Vicenza and Verona on day trips by train; probably on two separate days. We're also thinking of visiting Trevisio on a day trip as well.

We're then renting a car and will spend 7 days at Lago Maggiore and Lago Como. We'll probably stop at Sirmione on the way back to the airport.

Do you have any suggestions for the lake district?

many thanks
Santo

Santo,
I am Italian and have some suggestions for You:
1) Near Verona, don't miss "Borghetto di Valeggio sul Mincio"
2) On Garda Lake, don't miss "Torri del Benaco" (near Verona)
3) Near Mantova don't miss "Sabbioneta" the Ideal City.
4) On Lago Maggiore, visit the romantic islands of "Pescatori" "and Isolabella"
5) Near Lago Maggiore, don't miss absolutly the Orta Lake and S.Giulio Island.
6) Near Piacenza visit "Grazzano Visconti" medieval country.
7) ... many others, but needs more days....

And in order to end, don't forget to try, anywhere, the Prosciutto, the Parmigiano, the Culatello and Pasta, with local Wines. :)

Best regards

Mario

I have been so busy all I have is work to offer, this one upped the margin a tad
Dalintober was built in 1880, the cast materials came from Scotland
E3 11mm, F5.6, 3.5 seconds, ISO100

This is an unusual frame, shot in jpeg ISO bracketed, later merged in Photomatix
ISO bracket takes 3 frames from one exposure separable by 1/3, 2/3, or 1 stop controllable
E3, 11mm, F5.6 1.3 seconds, ISO 100/200/400

E3 22mm F7.1 1/125 seconds, ISO 125

Thank you for all your suggestions.

This will be our 10th trip to Italy, and we still have trouble deciding which areas to visit !

Guy,
dont complain, do it !! To say it the easy way: Its only a few hours away :)
And you will love Norcia or Tuscany or.... or..... or......
The only problem: You will not go home that easy any more. So throw a cent into Fontana di Trevi and for sure, you will return

And I'm trying to get my wife to agree to move to Italy for a year... she's not convinced...

For Mario and/or Klaus.... is it possible to get to the top of Mount Mattorone on Lago Maggiore before sunrise? I know there's a cable car from Stresa, and a toll road, but I don't know what time they open.

For Guy:
When you do get to Italy, don't forget to sample the local wine.

many thanks
