    G1?...we don't need no stinking G1/Picture thread

Ok so I am starting this thread as a little sedative to the rampant G1 hysteria around here.

All i want to see here are pictures NOT taken on a G1.

Whatever 4/3rd camera you have thats NOT a G1 is welcome.

You can strap on whatever lens you can via adaptors, gaffer tape or sheer will power.

Just lets share some photos you are proud of.... but please... take heed of the following rules

    1) No Pictures of just flowers
    2) No lens tests - eg brick walls or bizarre collections of fluffy toys, crayons, watches and undrunk liquor bottles (empty bottles will be accepted... but only if out of focus)
    3) Dog/cat portraits will be tolerated only through gritted teeth
    4) There is no rule 4
    5) Last rule of G1 Fight Club is don't talk about G1 Fight Club

    love and peace

    thanks neil

I am not actually against t e micro 4/3rds thing... I do think it will produce some interesting cameras in the future i might buy.

But at the end of the day a camera is just a box to hold a lens... and that in turn is just a tool to allow you to take photographs.

After too many years of shooting I am learning to appreciate why there are expensive lenses and cheap lenses... Though I don't and never will buy into the idea that buying the most expensive lens will make you a better photographer

    Brawl?... Moi!!!

Just the scottish genetic trait of short arms and deep pockets rebelling against the lunacy of putting 4 figure lenses on a 3 figure body and thinking they have found heaven

    Its all about the photos

hope you had a good birthday.....its always fun to be 21

All were shot with a DMC-L1 and kit lens (haven't been able to shoot with my G1 yet because I let a certain photography blogger borrow it for review)...

How about some glamorous E-30 shots?

We had an event on Saturday at the Duxford Imperial War museum... too big to do in one day, must return sometime.

    E-30, 14-54mk II
    1/40s f/2.8 at 14.0mm iso800
    jpeg using pinhole art mode...

...and a couple of images using an effect inspired by the above, executed in Lightzone from RAW (interestingly, the E-30 RAW files are supported natively)

    1/60s f/3.2 at 14.0mm iso800

    E-30 + ZD 9-18mm
    1/20s f/4.0 at 9.0mm iso800

    HI John
the first and last shots were taken in Cornwall - the first of the Brisons from Cape Cornwall, the last at Pendnevounder beach. The second shot was taken in the fields behind our house in Suffolk, and the other three were taken in South West Crete (between Chora Sfakia and Agios Roumelli).

    All with the E3

    This is an experimental shot.
Yes it is a panoshot, but done overhead. Boy those old bones were groaning.
The original pic is muuuuch bigger in size and so deeply impressive on my Eizo rotated in upright position. E-3, 11-22, in 11 mm position, fully opened, ISO1600. I wished i had the 7-14 with me...

The impressive absolutly stunning Cathedal of Mantova... it is a must see !!

Here's my favorite lens, the ED 50/2.0, on the E-3, doing what it is best at:

but a few minutes later, the lens stopped communicating with the camera. No AF, no aperture control, no MF for that matter! Never had that happen before, but with a pancake in my pocket, I plugged on:

Of course, it's my daughter's team. They're 8-0 so far.

Re: G1?...we don't need no stinking G1/Picture thread

Another old Nikkor arrived this morning - a 24/2. Really dark and dull here today so I was reduced to testing indoors and playing with the trial of Olympus studio. It works well - though quite how they justify 99 dollars for the program beats me.

As for the lens... well not instantly blown away - actually quite hard to focus... but i will stick with it. Would be interesting to see some shots from the PL 25/1.4 and the 25mm pancake to get some kind of perspective

Thanks to everyone for supporting this thread.. it's fun ... and so it should be

    cheers

There are lots of PL25/1.4 shots around this forum, and pancakes, too. My second shot a few posts ago used the 25/2.8 pancake. But if you want to check for sharp whiskers in a closeup, I'll have to go have a chat with the cat.

Klaus, those are outstanding images. I am just so envious of you folks that live in Europe :-)
We're going to visit Venice and the lake district in Italy for two weeks later this year. I hadn't planned on stopping at Sirmione, but your foggy day image might get me to change my mind.

Klaus, wonderful images! and Lili this is fabulous too.

I took a walk with the lucky winner of an E-30 kit today - Alex Bampton... here's a shot from the outing.

    E-30 + ZD 7-14mm f4
    1/30s f/8.0 at 7.0mm iso100

The E-30 was a pleasure to use - fast, responsive, lightweight and fun!

    Thanks Klaus;

Verona is definitely in our plans. We are staying in Venice for 8 days and are planning to visit Padua, Vicenza and Verona on day trips by train; probably on two separate days. We're also thinking of visiting Trevisio on a day trip as well.

We're then renting a car and will spend 7 days at Lago Maggiore and Lago Como. We'll probably stop at Sirmione on the way back to the airport.

Do you have any suggestions for the lake district?

    many thanks

Re: G1?...we don't need no stinking G1/Picture thread

Thatīs difficult. But Riva Del Garda, Sirmione, Verona (visit Giulias house ), Mantova ( must see the Cathedral they have a prob of the Jesus blood from Golgatha, so they tell ).
If Time is not a problem: Parma and a visit to the fabrique of parma ham. Not far away, a little south from Modena you find Maranello the home of the Reds, a revelation for Ferraristi . Bergamo so sweet.... and what abou San Marino smallest country in Italy LOL. Its so much in that region.....San Benedetto so beautifull. The region around Mantova, Verona and Brescia is full of highlights and old Etruscian castles, walls, churches....
    Modena and Maranello: 1 day
Mantova in all its beauty 1 Day
Sirminona and Riva del Grada 1 Day
    Verona 1 Day
    Parma 1/2 day
    San Benedetto 1/2 day
Mantova Outlet : 1/2 day if you dont discuss with your wife !

Hotel: La Corte, near Mantova sud highway exit.easy to find Albergo La Corte
Via Romana Zaita, 31 - 46031 Bagnolo San Vito (MN)

    Santo,
I am Italian and have some suggestions for You:
    1) Near Verona, don't miss "Borghetto di Valeggio sul Mincio"
    2) On Garda Lake, don't miss "Torri del Benaco" (near Verona)
    3) Near Mantova don't miss "Sabbioneta" the Ideal City.
    4) On Lago Maggiore, visit the romantic islands of "Pescatori" "and Isolabella"
    5) Near Lago Maggiore, don't miss absolutly the Orta Lake and S.Giulio Island.
    6) Near Piacenza visit "Grazzano Visconti" medieval country.
    7) ... many others, but needs more days....

And in order to end, don't forget to try, anywhere, the Prosciutto, the Parmigiano, the Culatello and Pasta, with local Wines.

    Best regards

    Mario

I have been so busy all I have is work to offer, this one upped the margin a tad
Dalintober was built in 1880, the cast materials came from Scotland
    E3 11mm, F5.6, 3.5 seconds, ISO100

This is an unusual frame, shot in jpeg ISO bracketed, later merged in Photomatix
ISO bracket takes 3 frames from one exposure separable by 1/3, 2/3, or 1 stop controllable
    E3, 11mm, F5.6 1.3 seconds, ISO 100/200/400

    E3 22mm F7.1 1/125 seconds, ISO 125
