Who needs a long lens? ;-). This was at 22mm on my old 14-150mm on a EM5.I felt a little like the prey, as there was NO glass between me and that lion!
Well yes there are times when animals will get close enough for a “normal” lens but as you know short telephotos often become your wide in some parks.

OK - I must be honest ….. I wish I had used a longer focal length, because actually I was more interested in capturing the fly on his nose :D
