I know already that AF, especially Face and Eye AF is from another world compared to the EM1.2.

More to follow over the next weeks ....

    Re: Fun with Olympus EM1.3

I've had my EM1.3* since Monday March 16th and have fallen in love with it.. I have three P-Leica F2.8-4 zooms--the 8-18, 12-60, and 50-200--with an Oly 25/1.2 Pro on the way.. I think LOTS of my fun is in assembling/configuring this system into a highly capable LIGHT-WEIGHT one.. My prior Think Tank Airport Takeoff rolling bag filled with my fullframe system weighed as much as 30 pounds (14 kilos); my new, smaller Airport Advantage bag weighs only 20 pounds (9 kilos) fully loaded including the 7" HD monitor and mounting bracket.. That 10-pound reduction is a big deal for me with a weight-restricted replaced right-shoulder joint.

One key for me this time is that over the few years since my last Oly I discovered what I call all-around L-brackets and got one thru Amazon...
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It allows me to get all three of my fingers on the grip instead of having my little finger waving about in the air or on the BOTTOM of the camera...and without the weight and bulk of a batterygrip.

    Re: Fun with Olympus EM1.3

Here are some pics of my 7"-monitor system.. I assembled it--with the help of a goodbuddyfellofotog--several systems ago, and it works VERY well with the EM1.3 while focusing manually.. The monitor is a 7" 1920x1080 Aputure V0Screen VS-1 FineHD.. I believe that model is now discontinued, but I saw a few used ones around.

The bracket is composed of a Kirk Long Rail Plate, a couple small A-S-type clamps, and a quarter-inch screw and locknut.. The monitor uses Sony-type-NP batteries; I have three large ones and one small.

    Re: Fun with Olympus EM1.3

The EM1.3 works just like the EM1.2 but is refined in so many ways that make the whole shooting experience so much nicer. AF is really very much improved over the already very good AF in the EM1.2.

Got lucky today--an old ranch in the city

Found this at c. 4390 W Elwood, Phoenix, AZ.. Coordinates (Google Earth) are https://earth.google.com/web/@33.415...0003116h,0t,0r

Shot with my newish EM1.3 and Leica 12-60/2.8-4, all handheld and shot with HHHR, which substantially improves resolution and lowers noise, thereby increasing dynamic range.. Files are 8160x6120=49.9MP.

HHHR and the ND filter thing would be most compelling advantages over II for me but not got the budget at the moment. I find myself increasingly using the ISO64 setting - just like when I used K/E 64.

    Re: Fun with Olympus EM1.3

Have shot enough by now with Hand-Held High-Resolution mode to determine that it's quite beneficial in increasing resolution and reducing noise; it has become my preferred shooting mode when the subjects aren't moving.

Also, I bought two Olympus F2.8 Pro lenses, the 12-40 and 40-150 to replace two of my Leica 2.8-4s, the 12-60 and 50-200.. (The Leica 8-18 is definitely a keeper.). They arrived this afternoon and in spite of being underdressed for the cooler-than-expected temps and breeze, I shot both enough to quickly appreciate their optical qualities.. The 12-40 especially impressed me; here are a couple shot with HHHR.
