How do you determine different lens mount focal distances

Specifically, I want to find out the different distances (register distances?) for each of a variety of lens types (nikkor, m4/3, pentax, Pentacon6). And what I really want to ultimately get at is the deltas between some of those.

Thanks,

Doug

Hi

try this page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flange_focal_distance

Systems with short flange-to-film distances include Canon's FD mount (42.00 mm), Canons EF mount and Sigmas SA mount (Both 44.00 mm), Konica's AR (40.70 mm), and Olympus's Four Thirds System (38.67 mm). These can readily take many other brands of lens.

Systems with larger flange-to-film distances include Nikon's F-mount (46.50 mm), Olympus's OM mount (46.00 mm), and the Pentax K mount/M42 (45.46 mm) universal thread mount. These lenses can be adapted to many camera bodies.

The Leica M mount has a flange-to-film distance 27.80mm; the Micro Four Thirds System has a flange-to-film distance of only 20 mm. This is enabled by the lack of a reflex mirror.

Doug and everyone, this is the latest up to date registry list:

http://www.graphics.cornell.edu/~westin/misc/mounts-by-register.html

Willem Markerink had the original list up at the dawn of the internet era:

Fantastic, Vivek! Many thanks.

I was briefly annoyed that they were listed in order of increasing register until I saw the link near the top of the page to the same list in alphabetical order. This page also has a link to another site with some photographs of different mounts.
