I've wanted to go to the Dolomites ever since I watched this video.

I liked the video - I was in a car, but it looked like a waaaay too fun place to ride a motorcycle! I recognized a number of the places in the video. I loved all the "tornanti" (switchbacks) signs (one of which showed up in the video). They sometimes tell you how many switchbacks there will be (29, in the case of the one in the video).

love the dolomites; in 2000 spent two weeks hiking from hut to hut: via ferata, old WW1 gun emplacements in mountain caves, Drei Zinnen hut (refugio Locatelli, in italiano,)was a stop as I recall. we were right along the italy austria border some wild history there

Hi Lisa. I'm glad you enjoyed the video.....I know I was a bit overexcited in my first post. Sorry about that.....when I saw your photo my first reaction was "Wow! I know that place!!"

For the past 10 years I've wanted to take a motorcycle trip thru Europe someday, especially the Alps etc. Great roads, scenery, etc. Unfortunately, I've discovered over the past few years that for me personally, combining motorcycling and photography is alot harder than I expected it would be. I know there are people who can do it, but I guess my riding and photography tempos just aren't a good fit. When I'm riding, I like to ride....get in the flow and enjoy the experience of motion and the skill/concentration required to do it well (not fast mind you....but SMOOTH). When I'm out taking photos, my whole pace slows down and I like to wander, stop and relax.

I just might have to take two trips to the Dolomites someday.....one on a BMW motorcycle and one by other means of transportation (my wife wants to travel Europe on a bicycle....yikes!).

Thanks again for sharing your photos and for reminding me that there is life outside Alaska (it's easy to forget...in the dead of winter).

Great pics brings back some good memories of my trip. I also did the hut to hut hikes and some over night stays in the alpine. Made for some great lighting in the mountains.
