View Full Version : Studio Lighting Workshop, September 16th through 20th, 2008 in Fort Lauderdale!

7th July 2008, 10:03
Hi All!

We have re-scheduled our Studio Lighting workshop for September 16th through 20th 2008 at Tye Studios in Fort Lauderdale Florida. Instructors will be Guy Mancuso and Jack Flesher, with David Kipper assisting. The basic workshop format will be as follows:

Our format for the shooting modules insures each participant has a significant amount of "one-on-one" shooting time with the models; you will NOT be shooting model sets as a "group" of photographers all shooting the same set! Instead, participants will be working in pairs as a team -- one shoots and directs while the other assists -- taking turns for each studio set. In this fashion, each participant is guaranteed ample time as the directing photographer working independantly with the model(s) on any given set.

The basic schedule for the workshop will be:

Tuesday September 16th:
4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Welcome reception with intro to studio lighting lecture and lighting demo to prep you for the the next day's shooting in the studio.

Wednesday September 17th:
8:00 AM, Coffee and muffins provided onsite
9:00 AM - Noon, Morning module Lighting Demo and hands-on instruction. Will include demos on large products and live models.
Noon to 1:30 PM, Lunch, Deli sandwiches provided
1:30 PM to 4:30 PM, Afternoon module shoots, product and model sets
4:30 PM to 5:00 PM, Wrap up.
Evening, Free time or dinner as group

Thursday September 18th:
8:00 AM, Coffee and muffins provided onsite
9:00 AM - Noon, Morning modules working with live models and/or product sets as desired
Noon to 1:30 PM, Lunch, Deli sandwiches provided
1:30 PM to 4:30 PM, Afternoon module shoots, new model and product sets
4:30 PM to 5:00 PM, Wrap up.
Evening, Free time or dinner as group

Friday September 19th:
9:00 AM - Noon, Raw File processing module, OR possible sunrise location shoot with bikini models on the beach
Noon - 1:30 PM Lunch
1:30 - 4:30 PM, Guy and Jack, one on one processing with each participant.

9:00 AM - 11:00AM: Optional morning of free shooting with instructors in and around Fort Lauderdale.
11:00 AM on: Optional open House reception for all participants at Tye Studios.

Note that any camera brand or format size is welcome, including film cameras, but your camera needs to be able to trigger a studio strobe light pack, so it should have either a PC flash synch port or hot shoe for use of a Pocket Wizard or Skyport style RF strobe triggering device. We also plan to have reps onsite with loaner gear, stay tuned for full details.

Cost of this workshop is $1995 per person which includes: the costs of studio space rental, lighting rental, professional models, professional make-up artists, breakfast and lunch meals on the two in-studio shooting days. Not included are all other meals, lodging and transportation. Note that due to the limited shooting space available in the studio, only paid participants can be accommodated. As always, wives or significant others are welcome to join you for the other group activities outside the studio.

Space for this workshop is limited and will be offered on a first-come, first served basis. A non-refundable deposit of $1000 is required to hold your spot, the remainder due 30 days prior to the workshop. Check or PayPal e-check is the preferred method of Payment. We added a lingerie model for Thursday afternoon on one of the sets in the studio. As always we strive very hard to give you the best we can in our workshops. We also have 2 bikini models for Friday morning on location in the beach area's. Don't forget we are shooting a cool looking motorcycle for our product shot that will involve many lights for a very high end advertising look. I should add we also have about 6 other models for commercial, editorial and fashion looks going on at different sets and being art directed by Jack and myself. Time to sign up folks.
