Pentax 645D Review

Hi All,

Just wanted to make note of a newly posted review for the Pentax 645D camera by Sandy Ramirez, a freelance Commercial photographer. It does make note that it's not all about resolution, even in light of the upcoming Nikon 35mm DSLR's such as the D800/D800e/ I have my own thoughts regarding this review but I'll leave it up to others to assess the reviews value. Here is the link:

Pentax 645D Review from Adorama Learning Center

Thanks.

Hi Gary,

Although it's not an extensive review, it does approach the camera from a slightly different perspective than some previous reviews on the 645D. I think there is a bit of self serving in the review since it was done by a photographer that also works for Adorama. The mention of the availability of used manual focus Pentax 645 lens at Adorama is also somewhat of a giveaway. Still I can identify with some of the points made...namely that one can match resolution between different sensor sized systems, but that doesn't mean output is going to look similar. Thats a concept thats overlooked time and again. I also think his mentioned ISO's 1600 and above (I assume through exposure compensation) is somewhat optimistic, althogh I will say the higehr ISO performance with the 645D is exceptional when compared to other similar MFD cameras.

I think his points are good ones generally and fairly accurate but again, there is seems to partly be a slight agenda and a bit of overreach in some areas mixing in with fairly good and accurate info for the 645D and for some, sorting this out, may not be quite obvious. All in all though, the Pentax 645D does deliver for the most part, as advertised.
