Tired of shooting waterfalls, flowers, birds and the neighbors ? Try hockey photography--especially that NHL stuff:

wonderful athletes
nice venues
front row seats
great family game--teaches kids true values about sportsmanship

oh, don't forget

insurance--health and equipment
bandaids
ALWAYS put a filter on that lens

Shots from last night's Anaheim Ducks vs San Jose Sharks game:

Note: the D3 got hit twice by pucks in the game--first time it got slammed to the concrete floor and second time--well you can see. After applying a hammer, screw driver and pipe wrench to my 2-month old $2000 dollar zoom, all is well-except that filter. Why did that camera shop guy talk me 'up' to a stupid rodenstock? next time its a china special. In case you wondering, my face survived this game--but I know other guys who ended up in the emergency room.

Oh, did I every tell you about being careful about buying used from sports photographers?

Not much of a smell issue at HP Pavilion. But my kid played the sport, so I know what a bag of well worn hockey gear can do to freshen up the car on the way back from a game.
