Whatever you are doing with the new software is fantastic. I like the colored ones especially, but the black and white just glows, too.

Re: How about a more fun with IR thread?

OK, false color... not very pleased with these compared to what I used to get from Sony CCDs (Nikon cams). All of these with a hacked G1, Pana 20/1.7 and Hoya R72.

Earlier today, I had a chance to wander in a local park. Fabulous, cold sunny day with lots of clouds. It started off rather innocuous (snapping that is).

    Sheep/Crows/Vegetation/Clouds

    Geese/Water/Clouds..

Then this VERY UNNATURAL thing.. Never seen a female cow mount another before.

Back to monochrome. Did I mention that I do not favor the IR colors from the NMOS sensor?

Thanks, Carl. Yes, I have not removed it from the G1 IR since I got the lens. I am going on a short trip this week and the G1 IR will have to share the lens with the G1. This lens just amazes me. The photos require only a tiny bit of sharpening.

No doubt Cindy's 7-14 pics are nice but I think it is just too expensive.

For now, I am sticking with the 20/1.7.

Perfect opportunity earlier today for a portrait. A Nikon user came by to ask about me shooting Dandelions. I had to demonstrate how the hacked G1 works for IR.

False color...this one seemed fit to me.

and this is able to show the shades of the vegetation. Not all foliage shows up bright and white under IR.

    Indeed! Any cam/brand would do.

(I was being pointed about the G1 for a reason. Will get back shortly. )

Here is the reason I mentioned G1. My treasured (hacked) G1.

Stick a piece of Wratten 87 on the pop-up and it is a dedicated IR flash. For me, with a Hoya R72, it exposes spot on. Nearly stealth as you see the outline. It does close and open after this operation.

Since I don't have suitable ND filters (only very large ones or 48mm filters..), I stuck a Heliopan RM1000 on the Canon 50/0.95. Exposure at 1/3500s, ISO100, f/0.95 (evening light)!

Hmm. It doesn't get too hot?
A couple of years ago I experimented with a similar mod of a Canon 420EX using Lee 87 material, but the filter has to absorb so much energy that it heated and warped. I guess the Wratten gel copes better than the Lee polyester? (and the fact that it's a weaker flash)

I like the texture of the rock. I like the myrtle against the rock, especially in the lower left corner.

    The latter reasons. No problems.

I've been enjoying seeing what other people are doing with IR here, but haven't contributed for awhile (or have I at all???). Following are a couple from a trip to Yosemite Valley right after a snowstorm (taken in January, just recently processed), using an IR-converted Nikon D200:

Lisa, I have never seen an IR photo taken of a snowy scene. These are beautiful. The second is exceptional. Thank you for sharing.

Re: How about a more fun with IR thread?

We stopped by an old country church today because a relative has recently been buried here.

St. Michael's Church, Town of Mitchell G1 IR and 7-14mm (I tried to shield the flare!)

I finally took the 7-14 off of the G1 IR and replaced it with the Pen-F 20 f/3.5. This is a fantastic lens.
