9 weeks with an M9 (I'm back folks!) (Admin note: Jono's M9 review HERE!)

ADMIN EDIT: I (Jack) messed up and inadvertently combined Jono's new thread on his M9 experience with this older one Guy started when trying to get fancy and attempted to link them. Unfortunately it appears I cannot undo this action. Jono's new thread begins at post #85 in this thread and all follow-on posts are intact. Plus, for convenience here is the link to Jono's review on his website as well: http://www.slack.co.uk/Home.html. My appologies for this screw up. Jack

Coming 9/10 hands on review by our own Jono Slack. Jono has a full review coming in the morning on the M9. Yes folks he had it for beta testing

    SURPRISE

So that's why he's been mostly off-line recently; except for a for-sale posting of one of his M8s. Looks like Jono must like the M9

    Excellent! Look forward to it!

I don't like to go to dp review, etc to see some stuff.

About time that getdpi has this kind of information.

    Congrats to Jono and getdpi!

Jono did just text me and said he has a ton of images to post, so I am really looking forward to that and I am sure he has some real images that we can certainly see the quality of files. He is certainly a good shooter with a wonderful eye. Now that is something I look forward to waking up too.

BTW I learned something today you can text across the pond. Now that is cool

And he isn't even across the pond you thought you were texting. He is surrounded by pond in Crete.

Not the whole reason. A discussion here got a bit heated, so Jono decided that taking himself out of the pot here would make the stew less hot. Good thinking since one party can't argue with themselves. Well, you can, but that behavior might put you into an institution for awhile. During his absence, here, he was posting on other boards.

His hands on review may be the highlight of the whole announcement, to me at least! Waiting, excitedly.

You Brits let us off the hook too easily after independence, Chris. If you had stayed with it longer, we too, could be happy nowadays with your protocol wrt date formatting and a whole host of other issues.

I'm certainly looking forward to this... and hoping his sensor doesn't have the issues mine did. I'm holding off replacing it for a bit, just to see what shakes out.

Wow ... can't wait to hear what Jono has to say about the M9. I must say, it's been a long time since I've been so excited about a new camera release. It will take a while, but I'll eventually figure out how to rebuild my M lens collection and pick up an M9.

Jono has a site that his son will link us too and hopefully upload some samples here as well. When he get's back from Holiday I am sure he will flood us with images as well. He is NOT getting his steak dinner bet if he doesn't.

Which he had the M9 and knew he would win his steak dinner. LOL

He already conceded to me we will spilt a steak dinner. The bet BTW was I called 6 micron and his was 6.8. He won obviously knowing the answer. LOL

    Hi All!

To those anxious to see it, the M9 review will be up at 12 noon London time. I'll post the exact URL here as soon as I've made sure it's working!

I'm sure the Old Man will be very pleased with all the interest!

Silas if you want me to load some up on a individual basis i can do that as well. Whatever you need just let us know. I normally use a web based sending service called yousendit.com that you can zip a folder of images and upload it may cost 9 dollars to do it but I will make it up to your dad. We owe each other a steak dinner anyway. LOL

I can not see any images from Slack's site.

I am quite intrigued with the words part, especially where Jono alludes to the IR (magenta issue). Great write up!

I think this camera also might have UV (if not IR) potential.

I am seriously going to look into getting an M9, especially for UV work.

Now, I think, it is the bandwidth problem!

I am glad that I could have a quick read through earlier.

    Yes,
There is a link over at LUF as well so I'm sure the site is getting pounded.

Our internet guy dropped in to the office earlier and I asked him if the site could manage some extra bandwidth... I think he may have underestimated it!!

Many, many thanks to make this available to us.

Maybe an eulogy, but the text is concise and right to the point on many topics. Much clearer and informative than most multi-page reviews.

    Pictures are great of course.
Incidentally the only gallery i couldn't access was "Details" -unfortunately the one i'm personnaly most interested in, but hey it'll be available soon for sure.

    Sensible words.
    Informative text.
    Great variety of pictures.

    A terrific job!

(maybe in the future there'll be some higher resolution files from some of the already available samples? ... they might be there though and i could have missed them)

The text pages load fine now; some images are not loading, however.

Definitely an improvement over the M8 but I see a fair amount of banding in the high ISO images.... and not only noise.
