Re: Fun with the Fuji X-E1

I took delivery of an excellent copy of the 30/1.4; it's on its way to Australia now (I flew from Michigan to Edmonton today). The X-E1 should be in Australia within 2–3 weeks (in Monza's capable hands!).

I intend to use the excellent CV 12/5.6 and a Rokkor 50/1.4 (thanks Jim R!), both on adapters, until the Fuji equivalents materialise. And as for RAW processing, I will shoot the hi-rez jpegs plus raw until a decent processor comes into being.

For me, the form factor of the X-E1, its UI, plus APS-C X-Trans, and the stellar 30/1.4 was enough to make me abandon µ4/3rds, even though some of the lenses are excellent.

Let's see how it all works out!

Hi Kit:

Did you mean Fujinon 35mm 1.4? Fuji x-pro1 and x-e1 are both superb cameras but think twice if you want to abandon m4/3ds as many including me have found that they complement each other very well.

thanks guys.

teeraash i use lightroom unless i get a bad case of the smudgies and then i'll use dcraw.

lightroom editing is pretty basic and the numbers change for every image. wb sliders are adjusted first and usually reviewed at the end before exporting too. then i'll an increase in contrast, set the black and white points and then bring the shadows up a bit and the highlights down. all done to taste based on the image. i may or may not touch the vibrance slider (i did on the yellow, 10, didn't on the purple). clarity is usually between 15-25, but it's been 0 before and as high as 35. sharpening is usually around 48 amount, 2.8 radius, and adjust the masking slider until i see outlines.

resize and smart sharpen if needed (not needed for these last two) in photoshop.

Re: Fun with the Fuji X-E1

Yes, I meant the Fuji 35/1.4. This will be my main lens. I already own a perfect copy of the CV 12/5.6 and the Fuji adapter.

My reasons for abandoning µ4/3rds is not really anything to do with that system; it's much more about wanting a one-camera system, and I do prefer the APS-C sensor, too.
