Winter Sun
X-H1 with 14/2.8, BW conversion in C1.

Oh, that dust spec near the sun is an airplane. At this size, I should clone it out. But in a large print it might be interesting.

Now that I look, it's a nice photo in its own right:

That shot brings to mind a negative of a picture of an eye - the iris. Maybe that's just a floater that dot...:p

I think I want to buy an E-3 with the 16/2.8 as a city snap camera. 24mm is my favorite FL. I think I don't need the OVF/EVF viewfinder combination and I want small and light.
Allthough this is not really pocketable like the Ricoh GRIII but I don't want to work without a viewfinder. The camera is quiet cheap these days. €499,--
Is there anybody who likes to warn me or stimulate me for this purchase. :) i think I saw two users of this camera in this thread.

Welcome Michiel, please be aware that Dante's little helpers are regular visitors to this sub-forum :D

My only comment on the E-3 - which I really like the feel and handling of - is that when I handled it at a shop in Osaka it appeared to me that the switching between the screen and the EVF was slightly delayed. This was in comparison to the GFX 50R. It seemed that once the sensor triggered it took a small delay before the EVF came alive. This was not a major thing - I suggest you handle the camera to determine whether it troubles you. Indeed it may have been an issue with that copy of the camera.

I am aware of spending to much money on gear even without Dante's little helpers. :)

But thank you! When I get back in Amsterdam I will certainly go to the shop and try out the camera a bit. I am still in doubt of a lot of things also about the lens and the whole idea of a small camera. I really would like it to remain pocketable. I am really attracted to the x 100V, which looks like a beautiful camera but 35mm is not my FL; to big for a napkin and to small for a tablecloth so to speak.
Also I red at lenstip a review about the 16/2.8 and they stated this :

Still the Fujinon XF 2.8/16 is not a pancake so I thought optics specialists would at least try to correct distortion just a bit with employing a proper optical system. I was wrong...The effect is easy to perceive, especially if you try to develop RAW files with the help of independent software.A monstrous barrel distortion level amounting to −7.73% can hardly be missed. If you work with JPEG format or you develop RAW files with software of the producer you get perfectly corrected images with just traces of pincushion distortion which value we determined as +0.29%.I suppose we don't have to add for umpteen time that such a correction of high distortion means a strong cropping of images and then 'pumping up' pixels in order to return to the 24 Mpix resolution.
Everybody raves about the 16/1.4 but it will make the camera clunky again.

It's a problem. I set out to put together a small kit with an X-Pro 3. I also use a 50R and an Alpa STC. I found I was missing shots in the evening when I was travelling because the 50R was too big and bulky to take to a restaurant or bar so I left it at the hotel.

So along came the X-Pro 3, I looked at the XE-3 but the EVF thing bugged me. I started with the 50 and 35 Fujicron, everything was good. I really like the size and weight and the lenses, whilst they each have residual aberrations, are nice lenses. Then...I wanted a wide...I couldn't come at the 16/2.8 for the reasons you listed below, so I got the 16/1.4. It is a magical lens in every sense. However, it's big and heavy. Now I have a problem that the camera/lens combo is too big and heavy. I need a bag to carry it around....yadahyadah. This is a real dilemma at the wide end for Fuji...They need to make a really good 14, 15 or 16 f2.0 with no residual aberrations. A proper jewel of a lens. Then we will be happy

Hi Michiel
I've got the X-E3, I must admit I havn't used it that much. BUT I have given sort of a bit up upon the GRIII, because that fact it hasn't got a viewfinder, and by the days now (age ???) I decided I just too need a viewfinder. And the X-E3 is a wonderful camera, just a tiny X-T3. So I hope I will get out to use it more...If I would quit my X-T3, this would be my system: for street, easy going and so: the 18/2 on the X-E3, with the solid aperturering its ideal for me (that lens is underrated but got character, soft at edges it might be, but I don't care):
just a hipshot-repetition:

But else I would put on the 16/1.4 and the magical 90/2 (and forget some moments about size)

I never seem to tire of subway light and geometry. And occasionally, color. :)

Yes you're right! I looked at the 18/2 as well. The size is perfect and it seems, as Thorkil said, to have more character as the 16/2.8. The reviews are not very positive it is one of the oldest x lenses, may be time for an update. I am (still) into Pentax 645Z and K-1. Great tools. The Z is heavy especially with the 28-45 I use almost all the time. But the files are really good. Shake reduction of that lens helps a lot. So now I ordered a Ricoh GRIII, for a good price, and stay in the Ricoh camp a bit more. It is really pocketable but no viewfinder. I think I will get back to Fuji later on. I even hope for an E-4 with the new sensor, tilt screen like the 100v and may be a more responsive EVF. Together with the 18/2 and 27/2.8 it will be small. And then I probably end up buying the 16/1.4. ;)

Thanks Thorkil! Nice one! But I suppose you did shoot this one from the hip without using a viewfinder, so you could have done it with a Ricoh GR :)

Yes Michiel, I could have done it with the GRIII too, but somehow I'm (at least for the time being..) more attracted to the X-E3 while the aperture ring is so nice for my braincells to have...and the viewfinder too, when its non-silly hipshots :)
