X-Pro 1 FW update is available

Firmware for X-Pro1 | Fujifilm Global
Updates are available for the camera body and for the three lenses.
The FW for the three lenses are different but have the same name
The FW resets the camera to factory default.

    Have upgraded X-Pro1 with 18mm, 35mm and 60mm lenses.
    No problems.
No need to set the date on the camera before the last lens FW.
    Work done in 100 minutes.

Camera update takes 90 seconds and each lens 30 seconds. I was done everything in 10 minutes.

Did it improve the EVF performance (refresh rate)?

    Thanks!

Don't know if that is even possible in firmware.

It took me about 100 minutes.

Of course, I had to drive across town to buy a modern SD card reader -- I couldn't copy the update files to the card when simply plugging the camera in.

They also updated the version of the raw converter that came with the camera.

    Tim,

how do you do the upgrade? I couldn't find it neither on the Silkypix website nor on the Fuji one... any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

    My firmware update experience...

After taking delivery of my X-Pro1 yesterday I played with it throughout the day and was very much aware of the "Lens Chatter"... downloaded the firmware and installed it last night for the body and the 18mm and 35mm lenses... installation was trouble free and only took me about 20 minutes.. Turned the camera back on after the installation with the 35mm mounted and absolutely no Lens Chatter to be heard.

Some mention from some posters that focus seems to be faster after the new firmware updates but I honestly had not had the camera but for about 8 hours so I can not address that.

I really am amazed at the quality of the JPGs out of the X-Pro1. Hope Adobe adds RAW capability for it in Photoshop soon.... but those JPGs are gorgeous!

Hard to beat even from Raw I think.

(btw, once more I can testify that Fuji's website has the worse implementation of the English language I have ever seen on a professional manufacturer's website! )

Have you guys noticed it taking longer to AF now with the OVF? After downloading the FW for the body and 35 & 18 last night I noticed then and today that in OVF mode the lens makes quite a bit clunking noise and takes much longer than before to AF. No issues with the EVF but OVF is much much slower and clunky.

Re: X-Pro 1 FW update is available

I just received my second hand XP1. Ver. 1.01 is installed in the lenses and the body. I get terrible lens chatter when I focus with the OVF, but no chatter at all using the EVF or the LCD. Any ideas? This is quite dismaying. It also chatters when I power up or power down.

Is the firmware of the 35/1.4 updated ?

If not, you should and the lens chattering should disappear.

Re: X-Pro 1 FW update is available

I've recently purchased the Xpro 1 too, and I love it...I think. The lens chatter will most certainly use more battery. I'll try the FW download, but apparently, if you set it to power save mode and OVF only it stops (chattering). My question is, can the raw file converter allow use of my raw only files on aperture, lightroom, or ACR? How do I get my raw images into lightroom 3.6?

At present Aperture, ACR and Lightroom do not have support for the X1-Pro raw files which are officially supported only by Silkpix and by Raw File Converter which is a version of Silkpix bundled with the X1-Pro.
You can import into LR only the jpg's (if you choose to shoot raw+jpg) and the TIF's obtained by developing the raw files with Silkpix (or by other raw converters).
There are alternatives to Silkpix, such as RPP and DcRaw, but they are still in beta, and Photo Raw for iPad and iPhone only.
An other possibility is to shoot raw+jpg, transfer/copy both to your desktop, import into LR the jpg's only and leave the raw's for future development when LR and ACR will eventually provide the support.
Most probably you will have to upgrade to LR4 or use the free DNG converter if you want to stay with LR3.

    Ario,

Thanks, my understanding is, it has something to with the non standard sensor array.

    Hey Jolly

I downloaded and installed the new firmware but the update seemed to be for the body only. When I tried to update the lens it said no lens update was available. Is there a different place to find the lens software?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

    Thanks Ario

I had finally found it by searching for the lens firmware on the Fuji site. Without a search I could not find a single listing for it.

    Again, many thanks

    Woody
