    Re: Mount Fuji Active

Buttermilk Falls in Ithaca,NY. Not ideal conditions with low flow and a ton of holiday tourists crawling around. I cloned out a few from the lower end of the trail. This is from an 84 MP stitch from 4 shots with the 50R on a Cambo Actus with 60mm f/4 Actar lens. Exposure was about 1/4 sec at f/16 and ISO 50. Click for a larger (50% downsize of original) image.

Another stitched image (2 shots) looking across to the bottom of the trail and shale/limestone cliff at the base of the falls.

Took the 50R with 45/2.8 out for a walk in the park, with no intentions of shooting birds but they kept getting in my face so I blasted away.

haven't seen such clean colour and genuine sparkle - since CCD chipped Leaf and Sinar backs and M9 I used to shoot with Fuji colour is under-rated.

Carl, your Canada geese shots made me smile because the same thing happened to me yesterday - even the same birds - and the same 50R/45f2.8 setup.

We just brought this hibiscus in from the cold and it started popping blossoms. GFX 50R with Cambo Actus and a Rodenstock APO 100mm f/5.6 Sironar-S lens that I use mostly on a little 6x9 view camera with 120 roll film.

Great lens! I have the 23, 45, 32-64, 120, 100-200 and the 250 (I also have the 1,4TC) All the lenses are stellar. I had the 63 for a short while early on however just could not "connect" to it. It was just "okay" and I found I didn't use it much so got rid of it.

Thanks Don, we have just the two zooms and I'm blown away by how good they are. It's 25 years since I last owned a zoom and optics have certainly come a long way in that time.

Here's a couple samples of just how good the new GFX100 actuall is.

And just to see how well the 100 does with shooting wildlife. Both of these are slightly cropped and we captured using the GFX100, GF250 and 1.4 TC. Both are handheld captures.

    Re: Mount Fuji Active

You know that thing about Forming, Norming, Storming, Performing? Well the 50R and I are at the Storming point. A couple of times today I've felt like doing something unkind to him

I've come from Nikon F -> Leica M analog -> Alpa STC with Leaf backs (still) -> GFX 50R. I can never remember having unsharp photos as an effect of technique...but that's what's happening at the moment. Even with the wide zoom I just seem to need outrageously high shutter speeds to keep things sharp. The Japan light just seems so soft and mild compared to the overlit spotlights that are the character of Aussie light. It looks bright but it ain't.

Anyway, enough grumbling. This one is sharp - at least in C1. Golden Gai.

On a hot summer day this walk up to the falls is a refreshing experience. Dam boards are out now and the creek is running free again.

    Re: Mount Fuji Active

We did our annual drive into the hills south of Ithaca to visit our favorite orchard. Unfortunately we waited too long and we were well past harvest time and the peak of fall color. All with the GFX 50R with 45/2.8.

The owner's house next to the orchard (he had already left for warmer climes)\

The bird nest "crown" on the deer skull seems to get larger every year.

Not much left in the orchard. Next year we will visit earlier!

Just a few splashes of color left in the surrounding hills

Just as a few thoughts here: The Fuji colours just love Japanese skin tones. The light was so beautiful today - not much of it this morning but so soft and kind. All the preceding shots were straight out of the camera, no exposure adjustments, no crop, no adjustments of any sort. I think I like this camera.
