Bhutan with the Fuji XT-1

I trekked for 8-11 hrs a day. Freezing weather. A small makeshift plastic tent...

A wonderful but very hard trip. Went up to ~ 5000 meters. My age did make it harder still. The Himalayas were my constant companions; and often the only companions besides my guide.

Hardly saw any tourists. Once in a while, after about 2500 mts ran into scattered colony of locals...

A country for the young..mostly. Rough, hard environment.
I visited the ER at home today..severe fall injuries, blisters and insect bites all over.

' I too hike ', said the specialist at the hospital. ' I don't get these ', he said.

' I was thinking and camping for 2 weeks from 2k mts to 5k mts. over the Himalayas ', I said. A bit different than hiking in the evenings at home, I added.

Good to be back home.

' can a 4x4 go up them hills ', asked Rayyan.

pegelli, Alan, JPL, Vivek...thank you.:)

pegelli, Alan; much appreciated

At around 5200 mts. I stopped. There were blisters, serious signs of edema, maybe ligament tear and bruises all over. Time to go home!!

' do we meet again ', said the voice.
' hopefully, yes ', I replied. ' Always, every breadth ', I added.
' Where to next ? ', the voice seemed cautious.
' Antartica ', I responded. Laughed, and quickly added ' Is it cold there ? '
' I don't know , but we shall find out together '. The voice went silent.

I touched the prayer wheel.
Time to go home!!

Thank you all for being with me on this short journey of Bhutan images.
With best wishes for a happy, safe and prosperous New Year 2019.

Looks like a good trip. Still a big wish of mine to travel a country with such a different culture from mine at a relaxed pace. I've always admired people that live in remote mountain villages. My wife wants to live in/near a city. Otherwise I could see myself not returning from a trip like that for quite a while.
