I don’t own this lens but I’ve done some recent research into Fuji X lens options that are currently available. If I were invested in Fuji X then I would seriously buy this lens as an initial purchase.Thank Peter.
But very negative reviews by some.
While a few others consider it a hen’s balls.
I am waiting for a call from my Fuji dealer anytime since yesterday.
Take care.
OT: here’s a video about the Fuji 35/2 for landscape photography.
Nifty Fifty

I thought this review below was pretty favorable and the only (subjective) negative I can say about this lens is the bokeh looks a bit busy in SOME shots. It’s a small trade-off IMO for what’s an otherwise invaluable walk around lens to have in the kit. On some level there are things to be hyper critical about but in most cases for most people - those are talking points for justification of an alternative choice. I have no doubt the 8-16, 16-55, and 50-140 are much better and a much dearer cost in size/weight. For travel with a Fuji APS-C, I’d get one of these and a fast prime (23mm or 35mm f/1.4 variety) and call the travel kit “good” personally. If telephoto is your thing then consider the 55-200 (or 100-400 if you can deal with the weight) for an additional travel zoom.

When traveling I'd rather carry 18-55 than 16-55: excellent quality, light and with VR.Thanks a lot for the response.
Unfortunately, I have not yet received the lens. And my wife leaves
On a trip tomorrow.
But there are numerous reports of shutter shock with this lens.
Seems to happen between 1/60 and 1/250.
I have the 16-55 but too heavy for her. And no VR.
No go.
Best wishes
Maybe you only had a bad copy as from all the reviews the 16-80 should be sharper than the 18-55. Much sharper .....Bought a 16-80mm yesterday. I was adamant that return shall be accepted if it does not perform for me.
By the serial numbers etc., as read on other fora, it was one of the earliest ones.
The lens firmware was 1.0!
So much for getting newer stuff.
Tried it last night, and most day today; with and without a tripod with latest firmware versions for lens and 3 camera bodies.
Softer than the 18-55. Across equivalent apertures and fl. Except for 50-70mm.
I returned it an hour ago, and have my cash with me.
Maybe after a period when all niggles have been worked out..and new a batch arrives. Such a good fl for travel!
