You are not looking for an "ASPH" copy but an "ASPHERICAL" copy of the 35mm Summilux, correct? I am sure you are aware of the difference and I am just confirming. If you meant the later then indeed it would be an adventure. The first one does show up from time to time for sale.
Yes, it was. I bought a Summilux ASPH version a few months down the road and after the M8 was introduced I sold the Summicron to help me pay for that body. I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to sell it for something like $800 or so. So, I made a few bucks and now, the price of that lens is $2K+ .Love the story Joshua, was that the asph version of the 35 cron you got?
Good question, was asking myself the same things, collectors premium or performance-driven, or both? I'm sure the experts will chime inWhat is it about this lens that makes it so "hot"? Is it just because Leica decided to stop producing these? Is the image quality better than the ASPH or ASPH II? No focus shift probs like the ASPH?
