Canon FD 85mm F1.2 SSC Aspherical

It pains me to let this one go but with two other 85ish lenses in the cupboard, I'm well covered minus the speed this one provided. The SSC Aspherical is different in some significant ways. It is the only version of the Canon 85mm f1.2 that has 9 aperture blades. Testing also has shown that it has somewhat less CA than either the FD 85L or the EF 85L II. this copy shows very little CA, even wide open, likely due to it's hand ground aspherical element. Sharpness and bokeh are virtually the same, but the SSC Aspherical seems to have a "richness" to it that the other Canon 85s do not. I think it is indeed as close as you could ever get to the Contax 85/1.2 without spending several thousands of dollars. Now with an Ed Mika .75mm adapter it is possible to use this on Eos bodies at a limited focus distance.

Update: Please read fully through this thread for more information and links regarding Ed Mika adapters and mount kits

Front and rear caps included, $755 inclusive of Paypal fees (though Postal MO is encouraged) and Conus Priority shipping. Only one trade considered, Contax G 45mm F2. If, like me, you just can't stomach the thought of having $1700+ wrapped up in a lens that you will probably only use sporadically (I'm talking about the Eos 85/1.2 II), this is the lens for you :)

6 groups / 8 elements
closest focusing distance: 1m
Diameter x Length: 81 x 71
Aperture blades: 9
Weight: 756g
Filter size: 72mm

I've conservatively rated this a 9, the glass and function are flawless, there is virtually no dust inside. Same condition Kevin's Cameras is trying to get $1500 for.

Based on this new adapter information (and the fact that posting this stuff is pretty time consuming), I will leave this up for sale through the weekend. After that I'll likely order the adapter myself and keep the lens

Please see my thread over at FM if you don't feel like cutting and pasting the links (one of us is going to have to do it ;^) Ok, I'll do one of 'em...
