    FS: Assortment of pencils

I have a number of pencils ranging from 4B to 4H in hardness.
HB seems to be the most popular.
They are useful for filling out unemployment insurance claims and crossword puzzles that can be found in waiting rooms at the bus station.
    No reasonable offer refused.

They helped the wooden arrow companies. Maybe if I caught a pigeon and taped some feathers to these I would qualify.

Actually, it's said to be a correction to a stupid tax that was to be applied to professional cedar arrows, but because of wording also affected "boy scout" and kids' quality arrows. So that arrows that cost less than a buck were getting a tax that would effectively double the price to the clubs.

That whole package rolled-in to the rescue/bailout had nothing to do with the main crisis issue. It was rolled-in for expedience so that those wonderful guys and gals in D.C. would have time to get a nice vacation in. The extra 300 or so pages is that "other" bill that had already received nearly 100% approval, but time was awasting. As a business owner I often work weekends (nearly all) and have always worked when there was work to be done. It infuriates me to see these putzes even talk about taking time off in times like these.

Ooops. I guess I was ranting again. I need to check my pencil stock in stead.

Thanks for starting this rant as I need to blow off some steam...again. The insulting thing about the discussion of anything affecting taxes(I mean in the news media) is the misinformation we get . Look at the tax on those arrows.....first they pass a ridiculous tax on wooden arrows(question one ..how does that make any sense..just a stupid way to raise a tax that they can get passed). second they realized that the tax on toy arrows was unintended ..its was 39 cents on a 40 cent cost? so they passed a relief amendment but like anything else it wasn t permanent..its expiring ..so the tax goes back on. So they weren t collecting it and they aren t going to in the future. So its a tax cut t on a tax they didn t collect before and will not collect in the future. How can anyone say this is a cost ? And to top it off they just extended the exclusion so the issue will come up again and they can bitch about the special interest groups. Then to top it off ..we can all listen to a few congressman explain how we shouldn t pass the cost onto future generations. ....

Now I feel a little bit better!

Keep in mind when was the last time you saw a member selling pencils on a forum street corner.

Well, you don't say whether these pencils come with erasers... or maybe we don't need erasers since the market seems to be doing a good job of erasing everything. Anyway, if you'll take an IOU I'll take two pencils.

    David,
Unfortunately, the market for erasers is frozen. The point spread between bid and ask is just so large that the specialists on the floor have yet to open.
As for an IOU, under normal circumstances I would be pleased to do business with you, but the current cost of credit default swaps forces me to accept cash only.
What I mean by cash is that payment in silver quarters is fine, or Paypal plus 488%.
Silver quarters may be identified by the date (1932-1964).

    Helen,
    Glad you stopped by.
Just for you I have been reserving some smooth and sultry Mars Lumograph 8Bs with extra thick lead.
It is just the thing for that quick loose sketch.
Perhaps a couple of them for a double espresso?
I am afraid that all of the erasers have been bought by politicians eager to erase history.

    Bob Dearest,

I'd love to INVEST in those 8Bs
BUT one of my clients had to step down this past June
Joe Gregory (President of Lehman Bros.)
and I am suddenly losing clients left & right
I might be on that Bus, or filling out that unemployment insurance soon

    I'm a Luxury you see......
but still enjoy a good sense of humor

    Bob,
I understand your reluctance to take an IOU in these difficult times and would be willing to pay in silver quarters but I would have to go to the bank to get them and I don't know where it is any longer. I think i bank at Wachovia but maybe it's Citibank or perhaps Wells Fargo... not sure yet. Maybe they'll just change the name back to First Union and give it another try. At this point I may have to settle for a fax of the pencil in exchange for a fax of the quarters. I got this idea from my stock broker

David just look for the new McDonalds they took over all those banks since they can use the drive thru' very easily. They shoot your burgers through the tubes for quick delivery. The only banks left have fire damage. LOL

    Re: FS: Assortment of pencils

I woke up to getDPI birthday greetings this morning ......that was the highlight of the day.

The rest of the day was spent with my mouth hanging open as I looked at my screen or organizing client meetings who all want to do portfolio reviews.

Helen - NY is going to be an interesting place over the next few years.

    Bob,

I will cry "uncle" and give you a-buck-2.98 for them all.

Of course I will have to PayPal this to you, and expect them shipped to me via FedEx overnight.

    Jack,
It seems that FedEx is all tied up delivering all those notices of pending litigation to the shareholders of financial services companies. But the rumor that FedEx was in merger talks with Pony Express for a stock and feed swap is categorically false, after all, with the rise in feed prices and the EPA rules on horse-back delivery queering the deal.
I will set aside a couple of these beauties for you on the off chance that conditions might improve.

    Happy Birthday Terry!,
Where would you like your gift pencils delivered?
I think you might be more the 2H type since it takes such a sharp point which might be useful in your line of work.

Tonight it is a bone dry Hendricks with a slice of cucumber.
Goes well with aromatic cedar and graphite.
