    FS: M8 and M2 bodies

It pains me to sell these, but I haven't shot them in some time, and hate to just have them sitting on the shelf. I also have some plans to possibly extend my Hasselblad setup. So, I have two nice Leica bodies for sale: an M8 and an M2.

Look for my lens collection to be posted before too long. If you decide to buy one of these bodies be sure to ask about the lenses.

Both cameras are for sale CONUS only, and priced including PayPal and shipping. Prices fairly firm.

    Leica M8, $1900
I bought this camera a couple of years ago and it has been reliable thus far, and I have been very satisfied its output. I have not pixel-peeped or shot in the dark to look for redlines or any of the like, so if you're inclined to do that, please don't offer to buy.

The camera has been used, but not abused. It has 15,000+ actuations. It has a bit of brassing here and there along with some minor scuffing. Still has the plastic protector on the bottom plate. The Schott glass protector that was there when I bought it has a couple of hairline cracks from where it did its job for me once (the LCD is fine). I've kept it in a Leica half-case during my time with it. Beyond that I'll let the pictures do the talking. I think the pictures overstate any condition issues it has.

I have the original box, as well.

Here's a little M8 porn starring this camera (and a VC 35/1.2, which I no longer have):

    Leica M2, $700
This is a very fine-looking and well-operating M2 from 1958. I'd call it a really nice user. It's missing a couple of chunks of Vulcanite, one of which a prior owner blacked-out. The other chunk is under the film speed dial on the rear (see photo). It has a few very small "depressions" (I hesitate to call them dents) around the film-wind radius of the body. Again, see the photos. They are invisible if you aren't looking for them. The bottom plate is very nice for a 50+ year old camera (I've kept it in a half-case during my time with it).

And here's a "glamour shot" of it with a Zeiss Sonnar attached (look for the lens in a separate ad).

    Bump.

I should have noted that the M8 comes with an extra battery.

So does the M2 -- a battery of my choosing

The m2 is a fantastic camera - the button rewind early versions have a similar build to M3s. somebody buy this beauty!

Wish I saw this a year or so ago, when I bought my M2. Goodness me selling is rough going at the moment. Best of luck Mike.

Bump. Would it help if I removed the cracked sensor protector on the M8? I just left it, because it still protects.

Re: FS: M8 and M2 bodies

OK, I took the cracked screen protector off. I was told by the original owner that the protector was mounted immediately after purchase, and it looks to be the case.

Even if the cracked protector was driving the price down, well, call me crazy, but I'll keep it at $1825. I've never seen an M8 with a price this low, to be honest.

    M2 still at $650.

I'd buy it from you if only you would offer international shipping. Such a shame for a great M8 body.

Yeah, it is a shame. I also have international interest in the M2.

WRT the M8, sorry about being inflexible, but with something this expensive and complex, I just hate the additional hassle, risk, and expense of international deals. Nothing personal, of course, just being practical.

PS - Is your user name in honor of the filesystem?

That's absolutely understandable and yes, it is
