As far as I know, the 203FE needs the same modification -- just so you can convert the film back ISO contacts to receive the information from the CFV back. I believe they are now doing this at Hasselblad USA as well as in Sweden, so it is not as time-consuming as it once was.

will it work on a 203fe unmodified?
NO.

It's about $500. to modify the 200 series camera to work with the CFV, CFV-II or CFV-II/39. The modified cameras have a decal applied that says it's modified for digital use. Once modified, the e-type film backs no longer automatically transmit ISO info to the camera ... you have to manually change it.

The CFV menu offers a number of sync timing choices ... for a 500 series camera, for a 503 with CW winder, for a 200 series camera, and straight sync for using the back on a tech camera or other leaf shutter camera like a Mamiya RZ Pro-II ... using a dumb adapter for V mount and sync cord from the lens to the back.
