Pacsafe had a line of equipment designed to prevent your gear from being separated from you in a crowd by a quick cut.

I use their WrapSafe cables & locks to secure my big glass in Pelican cases in the back of my Land Rover and/or hotel room. I have cargo C mounts in the back of the vehicle that these loop through.

I figure that anyone with the gear to cut through their wire strapping and locks is going to to get the goods whatever I do to secure it (or drive off in the LR3).
