    gotta shoehorn?

Saw this recent announcement from Toshiba. They are evidently marketing the same flash units that are in the new MBA notebooks. Not sure if the 256GB would fit in the 11" model, but I am sure somebody will try ;-)

This got me wondering if something like this might be able to be squeezed into some spaces on other laptops, like the MBPs? Use something like this as the boot/apps drive, and have the HDD as storage, or replace it with another SSD for a super speedy machine. Of course one would need the connectors and some way to mount it, but.....

If I could get 256G in an 11", I might become an MBA owner...

Well, here are the specs on it from Toshiba:

It is SATA, so it may be able to be jumpered into existing MBPs if somebody (OWC??) figures some sort of mount and connectors. There appears to be enough room inside the 15" MBP at least, and probably the 17" also.

These may not be quite as fast as some SSDs, as was reported before, and we have no idea of wear-leveling, nor the pricing, but they sure look like they could be an interesting add-on solution.
